No shock over Hampden horror- time up already for the disastrous Nancy appointment

|

It says so much that none of us were surprised that Celtic lost the League Cup Final to St Mirren.

It was a grim experience at Hampden as all of the troubles of the season were compacted into 90 minutes.

To say that nothing went right would be an understatement. The performance against St Mirren was worst than anyone could have anticipated.

NO WAY NANCY

After losing to Hearts and Roma Wilfried Nancy more than doubled down in a Cup Final.

Players popped up in the most unexpected positions, it brought the most predictable results.

Should Wilfried Nancy be sacked by Celtic?

YES: He is miles short of what is needed

YES: He is miles short of what is needed

NO: Give him time, he is on the right lines

NO: Give him time, he is on the right lines

Being the cynic that I am I had no expectations over a manager recruited by Paul Tisdale. The self appointed Doctor Football is making Celtic fans sick.

Nancy and Tisdale is a terrifying duo. In Scotland, at Celtic it requires a special type. Not Tony Mowbray, not Ronny Deila.

Celtic need a big manager, a personality, someone with clout. Like Ange Postecoglou or Brendan Rodgers.

Both were eventually worn down and run out by the Balance Sheet Bhoys in the Celtic boardroom but they provided fans with goals, excitement and trophies.

PROJECTS AND SOLUTIONS?

Nancy sees Celtic as a project, he intends to find solutions.

Of course this isn’t simply a managerial issue. Every aspect of Celtic is broken, the consequence of a boardroom drive to ensure that Rodgers wasn’t able to sign off in glory.

Getting rid of Nancy would only be a start. Tisdale is the reason that Nancy is at Celtic, he has to go, no competent manager will work under Doctor Football.

And then you can work your way up the ladder inside Celtic.

None of us have any faith in Nancy turning things round. His comments are as out of touch as the performances of his team.

It only remains to be seen how this chapter ends. Everything suggests that Nicholson will botch it up which is par for the course whenever the ‘leading sports lawyer’ is involved.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

Paul Tisdale for F**K sake, even Paul Daniels couldn’t work his magic on us if he was here.
Where did they get this duffer from a F*****G YOP scheme.
They are all taking a shot over Parhead at GASLIGHTING us all,ah think they sit there smoking the biggest joint ever with a massive kerryoot drawing names from a hat as to who should go out and do the GASLIGHTING to us all.

I’ve been wondering where Nancy was interviewed for the job? Did some celtic delegation go to America? Did Nancy even apply? Did Celtic speak to anyone else?Do Celtic even do interviews or do you just get a call to offer you it without even knowing you are in the running for either a football job or higher up? The day he arrived was the first time he set foot in scotland I believe. There is no way he has done any homework on the celtic players and probably not even the Scottish league. If he was asked about either in an interview its hard to see him giving answers that would make you want to appoint him.

Just another Pedro Caixinha but unfortunately our manager. Clueless formation that needed time and work in pre-season but he will be away before that and good riddance. Doctor Football can fuck off too an absolute fraud.

A total disaster – That hopefully comes to a conclusion tomorrow night !

This will continue and by January we will be out of the League race.
The final calamity may be Auchinlech in the Cup, that is a vision that should shock but won’t. That is how rapidly this season has unravelled and every single bit of it is self inflicted.

    • Captain Swing says:

I was thinking about that earlier, Nancy’s Temu Tiki-taka facing the blood & snotters brigade from the Ayrshire rust belt is a recipe for disaster. He can’t still be here for that.

Based on absolutely nothing more than idle speculation…

You do wonder what the game plan is for the Board?

It’s just digging in deeper, whilst refusing to engage with its paying customers.

The plc financials must already reflect the supporters’ frustrations, and Xmas revenue forecasts must be down?

What can the intransigent Board do to get the ‘ungrateful support’ back in line…?

Why not engage the usual SMSM ‘journalists’ to spin nonsense that prospective buyers

have made initial approaches to DD / the club about a buyout?

Except the spin could carry all sorts of veiled threats about what new (foreign?) owners could do?

The message being: just be grateful for the club ownership as it is now, because it could get a lot worse!

It would be desperate spin – as opposed to trying to build bridges with the support – but our ‘Sadim’ Board

always does the wrong thing… 🙁

“…a boardroom drive to ensure that Rodgers wasn’t able to sign off in glory…”
The club, players and fans couldn’t have gone another minute with Rodgers, as it was clear there would be no glory if he continued. Fortunately, he resigned before being sacked.
