We had the good fortune to be joined by a VIP guest on this week’s podcast. Meet Pedrok, not Tom English.
Normally he is known as a key member of the Kerrydale Street forum but over the weekend his life changed forever!
Firstly, on Saturday the ramblings of English on Radio Scotland became too much.
The laughingly titled ‘chief sports writer’ at BBC Scotland tore into the Celtic Fans Collective using the laziness that has been the hallmark of his mediocre career.
When an one-to-one interview with Anne Budge is your career highlight it is obvious to see why being paid by the state broadcaster has been as good as it gets for English.
PEDROK V ENGLISH
Now part of the furniture at Pacific Quay English is affectionately known as House Paddy, the ultimate in box ticking and complying with a Diversity Policy.
English was giving it the whole shock horror treatment for Peter Lawwell’s announcement to resign.
Pedrok set the record straight, brilliantly so. He was modest enough to admit that it was an easy target but on the Trinity Tims podcast he gave the background to his appearance on Sportsound.
There was no preparation, no media training, no comfy studio. Just one clued up Celtic fan replying to the media lies, smears and spin being pushed by English and his ilk.
Back at the football James Forrest from the Celtic Blog offered a half full glass on Wilfried Nancy.
Myself, Eric and Pedrok aren’t getting carried away by a 3-1 win over 10 men Aberdeen on the back of their Europa Conference trip to Prague.
FAIRWELL MR CHAIRMAN- BEHAVE!
With the advent calendar ticking down to the second exit of Peter Lawwell there was plenty of chat about the exit of Michael Nicholson’s mentor. Hopefully on a permanent basis.
While others praise the ‘outstanding business skills’ of the former Clydeport accountant the real story was shared on the Podcast.
When Lawwell arrived in season 2003/04 Celtic turnover was £67m. Eleven years later Lawwell took it to £51m. A year later it was up to £52m.
Then Brendan Rodgers arrived. The Irishman then Ange Postecoglou are wholly responsible for increased turnover and profit. Not the CEO who couldn’t be bothered reading the 2012 Five Way Agreement.
Lawwell leaves, hopefully, with Celtic in disarray. His clone Nicholson hasn’t mastered the first part of managed decline.
Attention is on the CEO and Paul Tisdale to carry out their first ever competent transfer window. Most glasses are half full.
We will be back again on Monday at 6.30pm. Sandwiched between Motherwell and Livingston away. With more straight talking and independent opinions.
Rest in peace John Robertson.
It’s been blindingly obvious since pre-2012,
that the ‘Internet Bampots’ are more clued up than the so-called,
professional, ‘journalists’ covering Scottish football.
And the SMSM bias simply gets more brazen every season.
Might be related to The DR having < 40K daily sales, and BBC License Tax payments falling off a cliff.
Anyway, English is just another deeply unimpressive SMSM 'journalist',
who – unwittingly – provides entertainment to us all! 🙂
Lawell didn’t have to read the 5 way agreement because he was partly responsible for writing it !!
