Celtic board sinks Martin O’Neill with double whammy

After less than four days back at Celtic Martin O’Neill has discovered the cold, hard reality of how the club is run.

All of the discussions held and promises made by Dermot Desmond count for nothing when Michael Nicholson and Brian Wilson are in charge.

O’Neill saw the limitations of the squad during his spell as caretaker. Celtic are winning nothing this season without signing two strikers.

Surely he was given assurances by Desmond that his CEO would actually do his job.

O’NEILL LEFT WITHOUT A STRIKER

It is just short of 12 months since Nicholson was celebrating the sale of Kyogo Furuhashi as he started to undermine Brendan Rodgers.

Over that period clubs across Europe have signed strikers better than Shin Yamada without the fear of going into liquidation.

On Thursday Celtic released the Furuhashi transfer story.

Early this afternoon O’Neill killed it stone dead at his media conference.

Nicholson had struck again. He couldn’t nail down a deal for a striker that started 2025 a Celtic player.

Nine days into the January transfer window Celtic have still to sign a striker. So far Nicholson has signed a loan deal for a full-back with 90 minutes on his clock for the 25/26 season. Bournemouth were touting every club to see if anyone would help pay Julian Araujo’s wages for the next five months.

WILSON WANTS UNITY

That media conference came soon after the North Curve confirmed that the Green Brigade were still banner from Celtic Park.

Brian Wilson’s plea for unity had been followed up by absolutely nothing. Exactly what you would expect from a Red Tory. All about presentation, substance is for others.

Wilson had a small window to impress in. He isn’t Peter Lawwell. He is associated with getting rid of Wilfried Nancy and Paul Tisdale.

Since his Monday night comment there has been no contact with the Green Brigade or the Celtic Fans Collective.

Wilson has probably been concentrating on his hobby of attacking the Scottish Government. His beloved Labour Party are neck and neck with their Unionist partners, the real Tories for fourth place at the Holyrood elections in May.

Of course it is not all bad news. Today Celtic announced an official water partner. The club is delighted by this exciting breakthrough and looking forward to a long beneficial partnership. As usual.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

    They are world class incompetents.

  • Bob (original) says:

I genuinely believe the Board (or DD?) is blatantly taking the p!ss now.

When we’re STILL desperate to see a striker, etc. signed,

the club’s official “X” account has the traditional newly signed player pose,

for signing up to a water contract !

There is absolutely nothing accidental about that post or the motivation behind it,

    in my opinion.

…and yet they do manage to sign a player from an israeli club…? 🙁

    • Jim says:

No one should be signing anyone from any Israeli club. The law is very clear, as was set down at Nuremburg, anyone taking anything to do with an entity committing genocide, crimes against humanity is complicit in the genocide. The trials made clear, no excuses, no orders, no profit, no agreement, nothing makes it acceptable.
As for them just being a football team, guff, they are up to their necks in it with the owners making and supplying arms, used in genocide.
Again politics should be irrelevant, anyone watching the horror show(not on msm ofc),with a shred of humanity should be against this,

  • dropkick says:

Julian Araujo is a short stocky fellow who was young player of the year for LA Galaxy in 2020 and for 2021 and
2022, Defender of the year. He was good then. For me the loan is OK. Hayato Inamura is On Loan to FC Tokyo.
The transfer window closes Monday February 2, 7 pm. Looking forward to a champion striker. Do you want Johnny Kenny to
    go ?

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

    And who wouldn’t want that…

Well every Celtic supporter surely wants that flag of evil gone forever !

  • .Anmcq14 says:

MON is back. Let’s play them like the gullible, unworthy, anti-establishent supporters that we all know and love my fellow board members. They will flock to the gates and follow their leader MON and we can deflect as we want to because MON himself puts DD on a pedestal. You they have got away with it again. It’s really time to stop idolising ex 70+ managers and get the rot out of paradise.

  • Balloon Heid Boyd says:

If you are a season ticket holders you MUST stay away from the games as this is the only language these bastards understand and anyone who isn’t must make sure they do not visit any Celtic PLC related outlets/shops or websites.

GIVE THEM NOTHING BUT ABUSE !!!

    • Madman Mars says:

Be careful mate what you post, there are SIMPLETONS on this site who will accuse you of being a sevco fan,all for putting out the TRUTH and a bit of CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM of the club and board.
Those are the people our board just lo e.

  • Tony B says:

    To paraphrase Fergus McCann

” They’re not getting one thin dime from me “.
