Tobi Oluwayemi has returned to Celtic following a spell on loan at Kilmarnock.

The former England youth cap moved to Rugby Park on October 22, making 12 appearances with the most recent being in the 1-1 draw at Livingston on January 10.

New Kilmarnock boss Neil McCann signed Kelle Roos earlier this week which suggests that Oluwayemi’s run in the team was coming to an end.

Celtic signed Oluwayemi as a 16-year-old while he was at Spurs but the bloated Celtic squad have made progress difficult.

As well as Kasper Schmeichel, Viljami Sinisalo and Ross Doohan Celtic have Josh Clarke out on loan at Partick Thistle where he is the first choice under Mark Wilson.

On Thursday Kilmarnock announced:

We would like to thank Tobi Oluwayemi, who has now returned to his parent club Celtic after joining us on an emergency loan. During his time with the club, Tobi proved to be an excellent addition to the squad, both on and off the pitch, and quickly established himself as a popular and influential figure within the dressing room.

Tobi’s professionalism, attitude, and commitment were evident throughout his spell, and his contribution was greatly appreciated by players, staff, and supporters alike.

We would also like to place on record our sincere thanks to Celtic for their cooperation and support throughout the loan period. Everyone at the club wishes Tobi every success in the next chapter of his career and for the future.

According to Transfermarkt, Oluwayemi is out of contract in June, by which time he will be 23 and free to move on without a compensation fee.

Last season the keeper was on loan at Dunfermline where he made 36 appearances.

His situation won’t be a priority for Celtic but demonstrates the need for squad management.

Before his move to Dunfermline, at the age of 21 Oluwayemi had only made two senior appearances with Cork City on top of playing in the Lowland League.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

I don’t see a long term future for him at Celtic. More of a shot stopper, but has a bad habit of pushing shots back into the danger areas rather than holding or getting them wide.

23 still young for a keeper, so wish him success wherever he goes

Can the lad score goals …is he any good as a striker? Because time is moving on fast and there still is no light at the end of this very dark tunnel as far as new recruitments is concerned …a new striker being of the utmost importance ! This current board of incompetents are slower than Arthritis ! It’s almost as if the £77 + million sovs lying in a bank account is all a figment of all our imaginations…the number is all a big joke made up for a laugh by the board of jokers ? It’s not …spend it now …that’s what it’s there for you bunch of unprincipled manges !

They still haven’t added the money from Kuhn and Idah yet they are hoping everyone forgets about that.probably saving that to offset the loss of income from not another penny campaign that’s why they don’t seem worried
