Celtic’s silent approval of Daily Record smear

Two days after publishing very serious claims about Jota the Daily Record was welcomed back into the Celtic fold.

Fan media has been locked out for over a month while the club goes the extra mile to help their struggling newspaper partners.

RECORD ACCESS AND PARTNERSHIP

Michael Gannon represented the Record yesterday, given access to question Martin O’Neill and Kieran Tierney.

In mid afternoon Celtic put interviews with both players up on their You Tube channel.

At 10.30pm on Tuesday the Record had a fresh line on O’Neill as the interim manager gave detail on the disastrous recruitment set up.

This morning at 6am they published their Tierney interview. Discussing how surreal it is to be managed by O’Neill, the boss of the first Celtic side that he remembers watching.

Almost as if the claims about Jota hadn’t been made. Or even worse Celtic found no problem over the accusations made about a player returning from injury.

Jackson first made his accusations about Jota during Sunday’s Daily Record Hotline live. No big deal was made of it.

In Monday’s print edition the claim was repeated.

THE JOTA SMEAR

Jota is one of the most dedicated footballers in Scotland.

If he was wanted to sit back and pick up easy wages he could have stayed on in Saudi Arabia or in France.

Instead he returned to Celtic in January, the darkest, bleakest month of the year.

It is unlikely that Jota will play this season.

He injured his ACL away to Dundee United on April 26. Quickly it was established that he would be out of action for a year.

Rather than push back into action for a few matches it looks like his return date will be August with the benefit of a full pre-season training programme in the tank.

Back in November the Record got the exclusive that Celtic were in advanced talks to appoinTment Wilfried Nancy.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

Jota should take this prick to court. Wtf does he know about footballers injuries?
Guys a w**kpiece and as usual the board sit their and do f**k all. All the while our players are slandered. Our players are booted off the park. Opponents fall to the fall to the ground ,grabbing the ball as they do so. Keepers hold the ball for almost 30 seconds. As did butland in the recent game. The orchs sing their songs of hate, bile and racism whilst our club ban our own fans and welcome theirs in.
Our once proud club is a fucking sorry excuse for a football club. run by back slappers and cowards happy to pick up their inflated wage packets.
Even in the 90’s I wasnt this dismayed.
Honesty dont know where we go from here

Joe unfortunately we’ve got to accept this is the same board who welcomed the scummy union bear bastards in to Celtic Park while at the same time has our own fans banned.

Seems like Nicholson has been at it again . Horrible, horrible man can’t wait till he’s gone. Not fit for purpose.

  • Clachnacuddin and the Hoops says:

Hope that’s gone from Celtic FC ya mean James as I got ma knuckles wrapped by posters on another blog for suggesting that he was ‘gone’ in another manner !

But you’re right – He is a horrible horrible man and a horrible horrible wage thief !

The sub-editor of this rag is not reviewing Jackson’s writing for truthfulness or is it anything goes,
when the subject is a Celtic player.
Martin O’Neill’s placebo dose (confidence building) is working on the players but he has much more working for him. Nancy and his team of unknows came with the Q Factor and left with
Q Factor hypertrophy. For this 33 day episode, I feel sorry for the Celtic players.

Messed up. “Came with a big Question Mark and left with greater Questions”
