Florian Plettenberg has led the way with Celtic’s interest in Tomas Cvancara.
Early on Tuesday evening the German based reported came up with the news that Celtic were very close to signing the striker on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach.
Over the previous couple of weeks there had been a number of links towards signing a striker.
Every term was used from keeping tabs to monitoring events.
But when Plettenberg stepped in there was a different tome. This was solid, a deal that was well down the line with the player later pictured flying to Glasgow.
Last night in Bologna Martin O’Neill talked openly about Cvancara, trying to put a lid on expectations.
Regardless of that most Celtic fans expect to see the new striker at some stage on Sunday, with his signing announced today.

Cvancara signed a five year contract at Monchengladbach in the summer of 2023.
The figures above shouldn’t break the wage structure at Celtic if they are looking to bring in emerging talent from the Czech Republic.
Cvancara played against Celtic for Jablonec in the 21/22 Europa League qualifiers, just as his career was taking off.
One season at Sparta Prague was enough to earn him the move to Monchengladbach.
For a variety of reasons that transfer hasn’t worked out, now Celtic appears to be the next stop in his career.
Coming to Celtic is generally seen as a great move for a striker. Playing for a team that generally has over 60% possession and creating chances.
This season is a bit different but Cvancara has the chance to turn around Celtic’s season. If he does it will be a price well worth paying.
It is now the time( long overdue) to get rid of Nicholson as he is only taking funds out of the kitty to appease his own ego!, He does hee haw for the club and is a little creep! Given that Cvancara seems to be able to fill in right across the front line, favouring RW and ST, he may be just what we need. Also, MON’s man-management ability should help Tomas to settle in quickly. At this stage it’s fingers crossed and que sera but we certainly need reinforcements, capable reinforcements NOW.
I no longer care about Europe and the SC for this season but If we lose the Title due to the board’s actions of sabotage then I think as well as hunting the lot of them, we should pursue them and humiliate them at every opportunity until they beg forgiveness for their misdeeds starting the year after Seville, so over a 20+ year period.
Desmond/Lawwell are/were the ringleaders but ALL of them must be hunted.

Seville was great but left us 20million in debt I agree we should seldom if ever need a major overhaul to win our league and qualify for thr EC 3 out of 4 years Players can come and go every 2 or 3 years as a major stepping stone to a bigger league Just like the American university football teams do year after year it’s called planning
Looks like Cvancara will be on about double what Gollum Nicholson is on, but he’ll be expected to earn it, unlike Thee Preciousssss.
