Keith Jackson has claimed that Jota is in no apparent rush to start earning his wages.
It is a highly personal attack and damaging claim even if the source believes in billionaires from Motherwell.
Jota suffered a serious knee injury during the first half of Celtic’s title clincher away to Dundee United on April 26.
Instantly the winger was stretchered off, his knee was put in a brace.
JACKSON PUTS THE BOOT IN
For reasons best known to the club medical team Jota took part in the post match celebrations on the pitch. Using crutches with his knee in a brace.
Jota hasn’t played since, updates on his fitness are very rare. In keeping with Celtic’s policy on fan engagement.
Every few weeks there will be something on Jota’s Instagram profile.
This morning Jackson has provided his own update.
In a column about the complete failure of Celtic to operate at a competent level he released a mini grenade about last January’s top signing:
They pulled the same stunt with Jota who made a fortune in Saudi Arabia and is now in no apparent rush to get his boots back on and start earning his wages again in Glasgow’s east end. Indeed, there are concerns behind the scenes that the winger’s heart is not in it the way it once was.
The reality is that someone inside Celtic is probably unhappy about an injured player being one of the highest earners. Jota may be due another payment when he reaches one year back at Celtic.
It is highly unlikely that Jackson put that line out without any substance.
CELTIC’S FAVOURED MEDIA PARTNER
The Daily Record are among Celtic’s most trusted media partners. Jackson’s colleague Michael Gannon got the exclusive about ‘advanced talks’ to appoint Wilfried Nancy.
In two sentences Jackson has trashed the attitude of someone that appears to be a very dedicated professional.
Jota is from the Ronaldo generation of Portuguese footballers.
A youth and u-21 internationalist, he took inspiration from the dedication that Ronaldo has shown to make the most of his talent. To ensure peak fitness into a career in its third decade.
Someone may mention the accusations to Jota.
Tomorrow the Daily Record will be at the top of the invite list when Martin O’Neill previews the match at Falkirk.
Communications Manager Iain Jamieson even arranges a separate slot for newspapers to give them their own news line with a 10.30pm embargo.
It isn’t too difficult to join the dots on the Jota story. In June 2020 Jackson got the last ever exclusive interview from Peter Lawwell as Celtic CEO.
If Jota needs to know anything about Celtic briefing their media partners a phone call to Brendan Rodgers should be of assistance.

Hi,Joe
I have just tried to post a comment on your recent thread regarding the fiasco that was Kyogo’s re-signing only to find I have been blocked for attacking this website.
To be honest, I don’t think I have ever disagreed with anything you have written about the charlatans in the boardroom so was wondering if you have the time to point out where the problem lies.
Editor: Posts coming through, I know you are a good guy, not of the Thick News mentality.
Maybe at the next press gathering someone from the media team will question the relative newspaper why they have tried to ridicule one of their employees?
That’s an abysmal take about a player coming back from a serious injury
The way our board go running to this hun fanzine and The Scum with open arms whilst blocking out our own fan media makes me f*cking sick
I would be both amazed & shocked to learn if there was any truth to such accusations. But coming from Keech Jackson it holds no value at all for me. I regard Jota as an true professional, sure he has made himself a good few £££’s in Saudi but I’d expect him to be working harder than anyone else at Celtic Park to return to full fitness.
Might take him a few games to get back to match sharpness but I have no questions on his resolve to get back to playing regularly.
Jackson’s allegation is libellous.
I hope the player will take appropriate action.
Looks like Jackson has over stepped the mark there,
making insinuations about a player’s health…and work ethic?
Apology incoming?
[Well, he should apologise, or be excluded from the club.]
Keith Jackson talking about people earning their wages??? Shit-stirring rat bastard.
Ok arsehole, Jota should just get his boots on for the Falkirk game this week then, eh?
Jota’s natural disposition is to remain positive and upbeat, not to sit full of angst in a ball of misery…but that’s not allowed apparently. I don’t care where the notion originated, be it Jacksons feeble mind or some disgruntled twat at Celtic, he should apologise for either blatantly lying/making shit up, or for gossiping.
He’s trying to play mind games with our playing squad now…for which he should be seriously challenged by Celtic.
If only Celtic had a really good sports lawyer mmmh
Plenty on CQN read The Scummy Record and don’t even try to hide it…
Two peepil on ma street keep The Sevco Scumbag in a job as well every day…
Albeit peepil that wear Celtic colours !
The guy who could have sat on his hoop earning a fortune for not playing in Saudi Arabia, or remained in France, getting paid big wages for doing very little but instead chose to come back to this dreich, damp, dark and dingy corner of the world to pull his boots back on and play is swinging the lead, is he?
That’s the strange thing about telling lies: you have to keep them within the realms of plausibility, otherwise you just sound like a moron. This “story” (fable more like) is contradicted by everything we know about the guy, from his work ethic in matches to his obvious keenness to come back here and start playing again.
KJ doesn’t just believe in billionaires from Motherwell, I reckon he probably believes in Santa Claus, the tooth fairy, the Loch Ness monster, Bigfoot and werewolves as well.
Or maybe he’s just been seeing pink elephants again…. his stupidity is off the radar.
Lets not forget this rag has prioity access by our world class board.
Jackson knows we are desperately wanting Jota game fit, so he writes a fanciful story that none of us swallow,
“Probably unhappy” means some doubt and his opinion.
A pay rise after 12 months and anytime is usually based on performance.
Details: 5.5 years contract. Start 27 January 2025. Terminates 30 June 2030,
Previous Club Rennes. Transfer Fee circa 8 million Pounds.
Sold to Al Ittihad in 2023 for 25 million Pounds.
At Celtic from 2021- 2023, 83 appearances. 28 goals. 26 assists. 5 major trophies.
When back, Jota will be giving Jackson nightmares,
