There appears to be something of a campaign to paint Michael Nicholson as a heroic figure trying to turn around Celtic’s season.
That’ll be the season that went into a tail-spin around two horrific transfer windows where the Celtic CEO was in the driving seat.
His mentor Peter Lawwell almost masterminded the managed decline.
The art of decelerating at a rate that keeps you just ahead of your O** F*** business partners.
Nicholson hasn’t had the same level of good luck.
His decline quickly switched to un-managed. It quickly got out of control, to such an extent that his actions created the Celtic Fans Collective.
NICHOLSON AND HIS HORROR 12 MONTHS
This year alone Nicholson’s CV contains- selling Kyogo with no replacement, losing two domestic cup finals, selling off 60% of last season’s goal-scorers, failure to reach the Champions League and forcing Brendan Rodgers into resigning.
On top of that, the icing on the cake is Wilfried Nancy.
Nicholson was so sure of the club’s worst ever manager that he agreed to two interviews with Celtic TV.
Up until December Nicholson had been too scared to speak to Gerry McCulloch.
On December 4 and 17 the club CEO ‘broke his silence’ to sing the praises of Nancy.
Now, incredibly, a week into 2026 it seems that iron man Mikey deserves credit for sacking the flop manager that he was crowing about just last month.
Listening to Go Radio, The National reports Guidi claiming:
I believe that Michael Nicholson – the Celtic chief executive who’s had a lot of criticism, a lot of abuse – I believe that Michael was the driving force for change in the past 48 hours in terms of going to Dermot Desmond and saying, ‘We need to do something. This cannot go on’.
So Michael Nicholson, I think, deserves credit where it’s due for putting that on.
Nicholson is the Chief Executive Officer of Celtic PLC, Desmond is a Non Executive Director.
It says everything if the CEO has to plead to a NED to do his job. Nicholson is employed and paid for his leadership skills and decision making. Most Celtic fans know the reality.
NICHOLSON THE MOUSE
They’ve heard the Luke McCowan story. How negotiations to match the £1m bid from Hibs were put on hold as the Celtic CEO waited on the green light from the 18th green in a land far away.
Three weeks ago Nicholson was all over Celtic TV praising the brilliance of Nancy.
If someone thinks that it is good for the CEO’s image to push the impression that he forced through the sacking of Nancy things have really hit rock bottom.
Nicholson, Paul Tisdale and Nancy have brought Celtic’s season to its knees. Two down, one to go. Then onto the equally useless Chris McKay.
Should Michael Nicholson be sacked as Celtic CEO?
YES- The clear out of dross must continue
NO- Mikey is a leader and a right good Celt

Joe , i have to agree with all you say about mn , how could i not ? but with tisdale gone and his manager with him , could we make peace with the board and hope they will meet us half way ?
It is obvious tisdale suckered everyone at Celtic , mistakes were made , dd alone was suckered by by him , even that pl .
Let the GB back and we can talk as to heal things , we don’t need the tension between us continuing , lets offer the olive branch , mn may be gone in may , but for now it’s the league and reconciliation should be our focus
Sorry Bertie but I feel that the symptoms have been treated only so far, we need to remove the cause otherwise we never heal, another flare up is always just around the corner. NEDs should hold a board to account for the boards decisions a CEO is ultimately responsible. If a CEO needs a minority shareholder to make or allow a decision then that CEO is a risk to the business. Any board who will not share a detailed plan on objectives and plans to achieve them is in dereliction of duty. The board serves the shareholders and are answerable. We need strong leadership who will make decisions for the good of the club before the good of any individual.
Good article Joe
Guidi almost as bad as your colleague JF on the excellent trinity Tims pod attempting to extol virtues on Brian Wilson and give him credit for his perceived part in the removal of the crazy frog. Absolutely ridiculous attempting to credit this parasite with having more than a passing comment on such business . Keep up the good stuff on blog / TTs
Bertie, please join the real world.
Have you not put 2 and 2 together yet about all that has happened? The business of reconcilement starts with the people who broke the trust in the first place, which did not just happen suddenly. The AGM was supposed to be where reconciliation would begin and you saw what happened there.
It is easy for people in power to promote dissent and then criticise the ultimate reaction. This is what the board have done.
“Power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely”
Power corrupts, but absolute power corrupts absolutely” as you say pan ? cliches aside , good luck with that shit get with the real world ffs
This is when we start seeing endless stories of us going for decent players like this guy Sigur
‘ One more hurdle ‘ etc
Then some other team takes them because we’re lowballing them for the sake of a couple of hundred grand
They’ll never change
…. yeah , I stabbed him six times , but I saved his life taking him to the hospital ..
Iron man Mikey? I had a picture in my mind, of MN in a pinney, with an iron, doing the Parkheid laundry. Enything to save a few bob.
Hail Hail
Correction. Anything to save a few bob.
Houston We Have Lift Off !!!!
Let get this going! HAIL HAIL.
It was obvious after the cup final defeat and Nicholson allowed 3 more league defeats, Dundee Utd, Motherwell, Sevco. He’s on record continuing to back manager, MUST GO!
