Martin O’Neill has urged the Celtic board to call a truce in their war against Celtic fans.
Celtic Park has effectively been muted since Michael Nicholson booted the Green Brigade out following the win over Falkirk at the end of October. That match was O’Neill’s first as interim manager.
A three match suspension was turned into an indefinite ban as Michael Nicholson showed the sort of decisiveness that he never displays in transfer business.
NICHOLSON’S CAMPAIGN AGAINST THE CELTIC SUPPORT
A year after celebrating the sale of Kyogo Furuhashi the Celtic CEO is still showing no signs of bringing in a replacement.
The vilification of the Celtic support continued during Wilfried Nancy’s brief reign.
Nicholson claimed that after the League Cup Final defeat from St Mirren that three staff members were assaulted inside Celtic Park.
No arrests or charges have been made. No grainy video footage has been released to help identify the culprit.
On December 19 The Sun, Daily Record, STV and others produced a story about a Celtic fan waving an open blade at directors during the match away to Dundee United.
OPEN BLADE TERROR?
Again, no arrests were made. The story was complete fiction, unofficially endorsed by Celtic and their Communications Manager.
O’Neill has returned to a worsening situation. On Saturday the Celtic directors were tapping their toes to the hate anthems from 2,400 away fans at the Glasgow Derby.
Across from them the front of Celtic’s Standing Section was covered up with 300 Green Brigade members suspended.
On Tuesday O’Neill held a special media conference with old school newspapers, another favour granted by Iain Jamieson, the club’s Communications Manager.
Reacting to Brian Wilson’s call for unity inside the Celtic Way reports O’Neill saying:
Do you know what I think? I wouldn’t mind having a meeting with a group of people just for people airing their grievances and things like this. I’m a football manager. It’s rather obnoxiously ridiculous of me to think that I can resolve a problem.
What you can do is, I think maybe have a bit of a truce if that’s the case. I’d love if the stadium was absolutely just ready to go and ready to support the players through thick and thin because it will be a difficult time. It does wear you down a bit, you know. So it would be nice with people together.
We’d have to try and win the football matches and that quells things for a little while. That’s all it does. But eventually, at some stage, whatever comes or goes, the board and supporters will have to come back into unison.
With Nicholson working 24/7 on transfer activities the door is open for Wilson to call a meeting with the Celtic Fans Collective to reinstate the Green Brigade.
If they aren’t back in the stadium for the Dundee United match it confirms that Wilson’s words were simply empty promises from a politician.
If the Green Brigade are back it will highlight Wilson as a proper Chairman unlike the freeloader that he has succeeded.

Get it done celtic
We have a league to win .
Maybe as an alternative, we could get Michael Nicholson and his fellow directors to occupy the space vacated by the Green Brigade and provide some atmosphere.
The opposition would be paralysed with laughter.
Time to put up or shut up Celtic, Bad enough that it takes our Manager to speak out about the issues or non-issues. It is an utter disgrace that Fans / Investers in OUR club are treated so shabbily.
Now is the time for Wilson to prove his worth, give the team every support we can and try to win this title. It’s taken over 20 years surely Wilson can bow out with at least some success
Ban the Celtic board from Celtic games till further notice.
Wilson and Nicholson ….I’d rather have Dujon Sterling drive me home ..or ask MC Fadden for income tax advice !
Murph @ 7.15am…
Far less the opposition being paralysed with laughter – Nicholson is paralysed with even speaking !
It’s not Martin O’Neill or the Celtic Collective that’s putting the pressure on feeble Wilson, the huge weight on his shoulders is from wearing that massive Harris Tweed overcoat.
He could get locked out of the gates by Saint Peter before he’s given the chance to let the Green Brigade through Celtic Park’s.
