Wilfried Nancy delivered a highly animated media conference ahead of Saturday’s Glasgow Derby.
The Celtic boss has appeared detached in many of his previous media conferences but that was certainly not the case today.
Five defeats in seven matches has piled the pressure on the Frenchman.
NANCY COMES OUT SWINGING
Nancy was at pains to highlight how he had been brought in in mid-season and that it would take time for him to get the squad playing his way.
Martin O’Neill arrived as interim boss at the end of October and instantly improved results.
With five defeats in seven Celtic have had the opposite to the new manager bounce with the anger of fans clear to see.
Tomorrow’s Glasgow Derby looks to be critical for Nancy. Less than 24 hours before kick-off he came out swinging, defending his ways to broadcast media outlets.

Nancy was announced as the Celtic manager on December 3, taking up his new job the morning after a1-0 win over Dundee.
APPOINTMENT AND RESULTS
He was greeted at Lennoxtown on Day 1 by Michael Nicholson but was left on his own to face the media on December 5.
It seemed unusual that the club Chairman and/or CEO didn’t introduce the new manager to supporters through media partners.
Nancy was given the chance to take Celtic to the top of the SOFL Premiership in his first match. They lost 2-1 to Hearts.
Match 2 Celtic lost 3-0 at home to Roma, it was3-0 at half time.
Nancy then lost the League Cup Final to St Mirren.
Dundee United and Motherwell then won their first matches against Celtic in over a decade.
In-between Celtic beat Aberdeen and Livingston but fans weren’t convinced by the gung-ho attitude to defending.
Today’s media appearance cranks the pressure up even further on Celtic’s first French manager.
If Celtic lose the Glasgow Derby, which would be their sixth defeat in eight matches it would be near impossible to defend Nancy’s record.
Especially compared to that of Martin O’Neill who won seven out of seven domestic matches.
NOTE: Today’s media conference appeared to be all in, involving broadcasters and newspaper reporters.
SUMMARY
- Nancy didn’t have a pre-season to prepare, four or five weeks
- So far he has only had 12 training sessions
- Celtic should have beaten Hearts in his first match
- He needs time
- He isn’t happy with results
- I’d be a liar if I said everything was OK
- If you are patient you will see what my team can do
- It is normal that players are confused at times
- He knows where he is going but isn’t sure if it will work out

Ffs! 7 minutes of embarrassing, rambling pish. This guy is a fraud and our board are sitting on their hands on this, get him gone now. It’s never going to work out for him here, Stevie Wonder with a blindfold on could see that !
Get this French goon gone and that useless c**t Tisdale too. Araujo another player that’s useless. Rectify this horrible mistake .
I knows where he is going but I’m sure it will not work out.
Get this French goon gone. A total embarrassment in his presser. We are going to get ripped apart tomorrow by a bang average team at home. Nancy & Tisdale have done some amount of damage in a short time. FFS Nicholson grow a pair and get those two clown’s out our club it’s never going to work. Araujo another panick signing along with Balikwasha & Tounekti.

I wish Wilf spent less time embarrassing himself at press conferences.
I judged this spoofer on his record in canada and the mls .
His win rate is 51% losing or drawing the rest , his sides scored 413 and conceded 313 goals thats a fairly high rate of attrition , winning some cups and this year ending up 7th .
Whats so good about that record ffs ? we all know he’s a gonner and hopefully it’s tomorrow , a draw would still keep us in the race and should finish him , but i think with the officials and between his tactics , set piece’s it’s going to be a long afternoon
“I’m not a back 3 guy” !!!!!!!! Well WTF are we doing playing with a back 3 and leaking goals every game
He’s got to go !!!!
Imagine sitting interviewing this Guy to manage Celtic football club .
Anyone normally would say. Thanks for your time.
Then turn to board members explaining his possibilities.
This guy is insane, he’s out.
Callum McGregor, should hold meeting with the players tonight.
Instructed them to play our own game. Forget
his stupid formations
Personally I would sack him tonight.. wouldn’t let him near dugout tomorrow .
Regardless of massive victory ( don’t laugh) I would certainly put him out the door,
Must’ve been like Spud’s interview in ‘Trainspotting’, only with a strong French accent!
It’s fecking Pedro
He’s just given those clowns who masquerade as sport scoops the story and headline they desired just in time to give the tribute act a nice positive back slap pre Glasgow derby . It’s like a nice belated Christmas gift with his rant about pleasing for time in his job . This will be the narrative on all media platforms …’ Celtic boss begs to keep his job ! ‘ It’s manna from heaven for the scoopers ….
Chose to watch the above video on mute.
At this time, a confident, assured – perhaps stoic – press conference was needed.
Instead, Nancy looked defensive, animated, shifting in his seat, frequently looking
down / sideways: he looked a bit rattled?
And players keenly pick that up too – any weakness / uncertainty.
How is Nancy going to get the players fired up tomorrow ?
[Although that shouldn’t even be needed in the first place for a Glasgow derby.]
This guy is making a fool of himself and our club , the season is rapidly going down the bog
and the c*nts behind this mess who hired him are in hiding whilst getting paid a fortune
Scandalous
Oh my actual God – That interview is off the scale…
Off the richter scare at that…
Bumbling, incoherent, furtive, dodgy, defensive when he cannot possibly be defensive of himself…
The last thing one needs with the hangover from Hell…
Please Sevco – Just batter us tomorrow to get rid of this utter, utter lunatic !
No I repeat No!! Celtic fan well real one!! Ever wants us to lose!! Especially against that poison this guy clac a total halfwit! Come on Celtic let’s batter this poison tomorrow!! I don’t think he is the man for the job never have, but he is manager of the team I love!! Some amount of hun like behaviour going around totally mimicking the rancid hoardes of that hell hole of Govan! Piling on like they do utter disgraceful! ” monkey see monkey ” do like from clowns like ” clac” total roaster! Go on Celtic and by extension Wilfred!
Editor: Whatever the result tomorrow Celtic won’t win the league with this soccerball chancer in charge. The quicker he goes the better, then we can get rid of the fools that appointed him.
His nationality doesn’t matter … even if he was born in the Divis Flats he should be relieved of his post.
D’you know what? If he was able to turn all that anger and bitterness into the motivation to improve results I’d be prepared to give him a chance, it’s just that on the basis of what he’s done so far, I can’t see all that bluster helping us to defend corners properly or to be more incisive in attack, instead of the current approach (total bombscare at corners and excessively elaborate up front with no end product), because it’s only what you do in the two penalty areas that actually matters.
We live more in hope than expectation for at least another day since nothing will prevent him from being in charge tomorrow. I can’t think of the last time I’ve felt as justifiably pessimistic going into one of these games. Tommy Burns’ final season probably – when it became undeniable that he just couldn’t get us to that next level.
I think the message he was trying to get across is: “You supporters think I know fuck nothing about football but I know FUCK ALL!!!!!”. I’m going for a long walk with the dog tomorrow midday. Dreading the outcome of tomorrow’s match.
Wilfred has just stood up from his chair in the Scottish fitba delusional wafflers club. Walked over and nutted Pedro. While Pedro lies on the floor, blood spurting out his nose. Wilf leans over him and says ‘im the daddy now of this club’ All the other wafflers stand back and it dawns on them. He is the king of the wafflers!
It’s the nature reserve for me tomorrow Tony while that Glasgow Derby is on…
At least it’ll be therapeutic if nothing else !
