Team News: Celtic make two changes for Utrecht with bogus team sheet causing surprise

Celtic have made two changes to the side that drew with Hearts on Sunday for tonight’s Europa League tie against Utrecht.

The ineligible Julian Araujo and Tomas Cvancara drop out with Colby Donovan and Sebastian Tounekti coming into the team.

Bizarrely Celtic released a tweet showing Cameron Carter-Vickers in defence. That was different to the team listed on the UEFA website which has Auston Trusty alongside Liam Scales.

Carter-Vickers isn’t guaranteed to play again this season, in November Callum Osmand replaced the former Spurs man in the Celtic squad.

The earlier team also had Marcelo Saracchi as a substitute which isn’t the case. One bonus is Kelechi Iheanacho as a substitute.

All 18 Europa League matches are being played at the same time but at kick off time Celtic’s fate in entirely in their own hands.

After last week’s 2-2 draw away to Bologna Celtic face a fairly straightforward task tonight.

Win the match and go through to the Round of 16 Play Off against one of the clubs positioned between 9 and 16 in the final table.

A draw could be good enough to go through with a defeat and a highly unlikely series of results also allowing progress into next month.

Utrecht have nothing but pride and prize money to play for after taking just one point from seven matches.

That came at home to Porto on Matchday 4, either side of three defeats.

All of their matches have been tight but on the back of five defeats in all competitions Celtic are strong favourites to advance tonight.

The Play Off draw will take place tomorrow.

Celtic are back in action on Sunday at home to Falkirk followed by a trip to Aberdeen on Wednesday- the first fixture after the transfer window closes.

If Celtic progress in the Europa League they can make three changes to their squad for the knock out stages.
