There is continued rumours and speculation over the future of Stevie Woods at Celtic.
The former Motherwell ‘keeper has been Celtic’s Goalkeeping Coach since 2009 working under a variety of managers and some of the best goalies in Celtic’s history.
Fraser Forster, Craig Gordon and Joe Hart have been central to Celtic’s domestic dominance over the last decade.
WOODS THE SURVIVOR
Almost as soon as Wilfied Nancy took over from Martin O’Neill there has been speculation that Woods is about to leave Celtic. Working one month’s notice is the most persistent claim.
With Nancy starting as manager on December 4 that timeline is about to be put to the test.
Woods has been part of the backroom team for each of Nancy’s eight matches in charge but appears to be cutting an increasingly lonely figure.
Only Gavin Strachan and physio Tim Williamson remain from Brendan Rodgers’ coaching staff. John Kennedy led the exodus when Rodgers resigned on October 27.
This week eyes will be on any footage out of Lennoxtown to see if Woods is still involved.
Stevie Woods! ??
18 years of service to @CeltiFC and not one message from the club acknowledging his commitment and dedication to the job!
Absolute shambles from the board!!
Thank you for everything Stevie ? pic.twitter.com/VNfTFaLNqC

Another tweet provided more detail.
You’re spot on
I heard how Nancy treated Stevie Woods personally too. Unacceptable stuff.
Nancy apparently took Stevie into his office and told him he wasn’t happy with his work. Woods told him that if that was the case then he would resign.
When Callum McGregor heard about…

That tweet continued:
he went ballistic. McGregor was supposed to have phoned Nicholson and told him to “sort this fucking mess out now” !! This was a few weeks ago.
The atmosphere around Celtic Park was reported as venomous. & with all of that, the Board have STILL binned Stevie Woods. After 18 yrs of fine service. Absolutely disgusting.
They’re seriously going all out to back the wrong man bcos their appalling appointment is being shown to be disastrous. They just refuse to admit it. & are digging their own graves by it all but sadly that of our football club by doing it.
It could all be wild speculation without any foundation but with Celtic in constant silent mode these stories grow credibility.
INDICATOR TO DOWNSIZING
Woods has a better understanding of Celtic than anyone else on the playing and coaching staff.
He was there as Neil Lennon’s squad that reached the last 16 of the Champions League was dismantled rather than strengthened.
When Ronny Deila came in the covers came out to hide the empty seats as managed decline became club policy.
Going from Rodgers to Nancy feels very similar- possibly more drastic since it has happened in mid-season.
After 25 years service Kennedy’s exit was announced in a 97 word statement alongside Adam Saddler, Jack Lyons and Glen Driscoll.
The Celtic website still has no mention of Kwame Ampadu and the other coaches brought in by Nancy. It is unlikely that any announcement would be made for a new goalkeeping coach.
Should Celtic fans boycott the home match v Dundee United?
YES- We have reached that stage
NO- Faithful through and through

Empty seats , and lots of them, on live TV is the thing that will draw most attention.
Impossible for cameras not to show it, impossible for pundits not to discuss it.
Keeps the whole situation live and unavoidable.
Yes it hurts the team, but full stadia has the suits hurting the team anyway.
If it gets rid of WN and the suits, it’s a price worth paying and the players would probably thank us for it if it got the desired result.
Empty seats won’t hue6the team anymore than these useless people we have in charge, from Nancy, through to tisdale, nicholson, desmond etc, boycott on games and merchandise and put the brakes on when it comes to ST renewals it’s the only thing that will jolt these bastards.
Empty seats won’t HURT the team,it should read .
Touche 🙂
An empty stadium would be powerful…even more powerful would be 50- 60,000 fans, but remaining absolutely silent for the entire game, even if we score.
Imagine if that could be coordinated properly. Just sit silently and look on…if we score, everyone just stand up and shrug their shoulders Nicholson style.
So , could this be the reason Kaspar Schmeichel has been making a lot of horrible mistakes recently ? In an unspoken protest at the way Stevie Woods has been treated , allegedly ? If so , there has to be better ways than these ? He could go onto social media and castigate the board for the severe damage they are collectively doing to Celtic FC for example ..in all departments ? That would definitely help in getting the board to see the bigger picture .. big time !
He might be back now though !
The Celtic board consists of disgusting individuals who have done NOTHING positive for the club. It is they who should be removed along with the Irish Tory and his son.
Stevie Woods BELONGS at Celtic. Not them.
We could see the beginning of rotting signs when the board got rid of the person who was just perfect for Celtic – Dominic McKay. This is the ideal person to lead a board. He has personality, presence and ability in abundance.
Dominic is better in every way than the whole lot of these shysters put together.
