Brian Wilson was one of the main talking points on this week’s edition of The Trinity Times podcast.
A month ago Wilson was simply a Non Executive Director of Celtic who showed more interest in politics than football.
Readers of the Herald or Scotsman knew what to expect whenever they saw the Wilson by-line.
An attack on the SNP from any angle, on any subject. Mainly ferries but whatever was topical the Celtic NED would find a way to pin the blame on the SNP while portraying Labour’s Westminster Government in the kindest of lights.
On January 1 the goalposts moved.
Wilson became Chairman of Celtic.
WILSON AND HIS POLITICAL FOOTBALLS
When he fires off his latest attack it as Chairman of Celtic. Whatever your political feelings it is madness for the Celtic Chairman to be at war with the Scottish Government and the leading party in Glasgow City Council.
James Forrest of the Celtic Blog highlighted that issue. If only someone inside Celtic could point it out to the former Labour MP.
We also discussed the continuing misery of Celtic’s failings in the transfer market.
Sunday’s game away to Hearts was always falling between two UEFA ties.
Having sold off almost all of the goalscoring options during 2025 Celtic go to Tynecastle without a recognised striker.
That could have been altered on January 1 when the transfer window opened. Three weeks down the line it seems that Chairman Wilson has other priorities to deal with.
Next week’s Trinity Tims podcast will be the day after D-Day at Tynecastle.
It is impossible to predict how that match will go. What is certain is that Celtic don’t have the squad to play in Bologna and Tynecastle over a three day period.
That is an executive failing. From Wilson, Nicholson and the rest who take plenty and offer next to nothing for Celtic.
When it comes to transfers, Brian Wilson is just a puppet of Dermot Desmond.
When it comes to politics he should just shut up.
Well Said.
Joe is a beacon of light when it comes to separating politics from Celtic football club
I think Wilson has Highland Connections – Perhaps he grew up there…
All the more galling that he’s a Labour Voter and ex politician of Labour who are Butchers Apron loving Bast**ds of the highest order…
Why would any Celtic supporter from these shores support The Butchers Apron loving Labour Party or any other one either !
I have Always Admired Wee Brian, Dynamic Personality and Natural Charisma.
This is the club who banned Scott Brown from getting involved with the SNP YES campaign. This is officially an ESTABLISHMENT board, with complete disdain for ordinary folk The HYPOCRISY of the board is there for all to see. This is hardly a club for all, is it?.
Fans are not allowed to state their political views, but the board are.
NOT ANOTHER PENNY.
