Neil McCann watched Kilmarnock get knocked out of the Scottish Cup by Dundee in his Rugby Park debut.

The home side were leading 1-0 at the break thanks to an 11th goal from David Watson.

Ashley Hay equalised in the 69th minute then a stoppage time howler from new goalkeeper Kelle Roos gave the visitors a place in the fifth round draw.

NO MCCANN MAGIC

McCann ended the loan deal for Tobi Oluwayemi in midweek with Roos at fault for the decisive goal.

To make matters worse for Kilmarnock, Lewis Mayo and Jack Thompson were sent off.

McCann has spent the entire season highlighting his brilliant managerial skills across a variety of media platforms.

When no call came in from Ibrox Kilmarnock obliged after the sacking of Stuart Kettlewell.

After a 1-1 draw away to Livingston last week McCann was looking for a winning start as he took charge of his first home match.

Being outplayed by Steven Pressley’s side isn’t something that a media luvvy like McCann will be keen to highlight.

BBC Scotland reported the Sportscene regular saying:

When we go down to ten men, it’s going to be difficult.

I’m so disappointed for the fans and the players who put so much into it. I thought we defended very well, but that mistake at the end, there is just one of those moments you need to suck up and take.

I was just a lack of communication, Kelle’s just in the door, I thought he was terrific in the match, he looked solid in goals, he did what we asked him to do, but maybe it was just a bit of communication in the message.

You need to be decisive in that moment; it’s a real killer in the dressing room.

On a 16 match run without a win Kilmarnock are away to Motherwell next week.

NOTE: McCann’s assistant Billy Dodds voted against the CVA put forward to take Dundee out of administration in 2011. The CVA was successful, unlike that of Rangers in 2012.

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

Lol wee fill McCannup way out of his depth in the managerial department, quite surprised he was out screaming abiut the rule book and the laws of game being changed since the result went against his team.

I have no time for wee Pablo Escobar at Livi and you couldn’t put a fag paper between him and McCann for how much I detest both of them, but push came to shove,Killie to relegated first and the Poundland Escobar to lose the play off and go back into the championship.

I’m confident he’ll be back spending his Saturday nights standing round the tall table at Pacific Quay giving us all the benefit of his dazzling insight with ‘Thommo’, ‘Doddsy’, ‘Chazzer’, ‘Faddy’ and the various other nodding donkeys in the Sportscene stable in no time at all.

Both diminutive ex BBC Scottish version employees Wee Terry and Billy boy Dodds will have their seats covered until they arrive back there doing their stuff once again …very soon . Just in time maybe to be part of the Scottish Beeb’s commentary army at the World Cup ? Multiple times failed coaches giving out advice and being critical of other players and team tactics ! LA scriptwriters could not come up with such a scenario for McCann and Dodds . Ps ..sounds like an Administration firm dint- it ?

The names sound like a couple of grave diggers, which suits them considering the klub they both played for.
