One thing about Celtic FC, even in recent times is they have been home to elite strikers, marksmen who bulged the net on a regular basis both in domestic competitions and European adventures. While recently we have had names like Kyoko Furuhashi, Odsonne Edouard, Anthony Stokes and Moussa Dembele, they have had some even more legendary goal scorers throughout their storied history.
Stevie Chalmers
Over the course of twelve years, Stevie Chalmers scored a total of 231 goals for the Bhoys, none more important than the winning goal against Inter Milan to take home European glory. Chalmers is fifth on the all-time list of top scorers for the club and likely won’t be unseated anytime soon as modern players won’t likely stay with the team for as long as he did with such a high output.
Jimmy Quinn
Going back all the way to the year 1900, Jimmy Quinn had 17 years as a Celtic player with 331 appearances to his name due to the lack of competitions at the time. He bagged a number of strikes in that time, totalling 239 in that time. He was a big part of their success in the 1910s and, funny enough, started life as a full back before converting into one of the most legendary strikers the team has ever had.
Henrik Larsson
Â
Possibly the most recognisable name on this list, the Swede is the only foreign national on this list and is remembered for his move to Manchester United. Before all that though he became a club legend for the Hoops, netting 242 goals in his time for the side across all competitions. A betting favourite across Swedish and a list of Norwegian online casinos, not only was he firing them through domestic games, he was also prolific in European competitions and led the team through some great runs in the competition. He is rightly considered one of the best players to ever don the hooped jersey and earned his spot as one of the best scorers they’ve ever had.
Bobby Lennox
Â
Across two stints with Celtic, Bobby Lennox was draped in medals, winning 11 league titles, multiple cups, and the European Cup. He has one of the most impressive trophy cabinets out of any player in the side’s history. He did so by being a prolific striker for the team to focus around, notching 301 goals and being second on their list of all time scorers.
Jimmy McGrory
Â
This is genuinely one of the greatest stories you’ll ever see in football. Jimmy McGrory is one of the most ridiculous goalscorers in history. Just about every single Hoops scoring record belongs to him. He has the most goals overall, the most goals in the league, the most goals in a single season, the most goals in a league season, the most goals in a single match, and the most hat tricks records.
He totalled a mammoth 502 strikes in 477 appearances, placing him over 200 goals ahead of his nearest challenger. This man has some records that will never be beaten.
