Brian Wilson made a surprise appearance on The Sunday Show today.
The Celtic chairman hasn’t been on the media circuit for the best part of 20 years but these are exceptional times for his beloved Labour Party.
The Peter Mandelson scandal links two distinct eras in the Labour Party leaving Sir Keir Starmer as a lame duck Prime Minister.
Every senior figure in the Labour Party knows that Starmer is toast.
WILSON JUMPS IN TO DEFEND DISGRACED STARMER
Either his judgment is utterly horrendous or he is covering up the intelligence he was given linking Mandelson to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Twice Mandy was sacked from Tony Blair’s Labour Government.
For reasons best known to himself Sir Keir decided to appoint Epstein’s mate as the UK Ambassador to the USA. The most important ambassadorial role.
With Scottish Labour figures ‘doing a Nicholson’ by switching their phones off and hiding in cupboards Wilson was called in to back the disgraced British Prime Minister.

Wilson oozed insincerity. His only interest is self interest in common with over 90%of Labour politicians.
These days his passion is writing columns about ferries for The Scotsman.
Having found the time to appear on BBC Scotland this morning there should be no problem with Wilson finding diary space to meet with Celtic fan groups this week.
Against Dundee there were just over 20,000 fans in the stadium as protests escalate against the Celtic board.
Today’s interview ended abruptly with questions about Celtic Boys Club. Clearly that wasn’t mentioned when Wilson agreed to the appearance.
As a Labour veteran Wilson only likes dialogue that he controls. Today certainly wasn’t a scripted Gerry McCulloch production. Not a bit of it!
It took the call for a boycott for the interim Chairman to respond to the offer of unity talks from the Celtic Fans Collective.
Wilson has invited many groups but not the Collective to secret talks this week. Custard creams and chocolate digestives will be on the table.
Celtic fans will now be looking for increased communications from their media friendly Chairman.

Why would Celtic Fans Collective wish to talk to this man and why is he in such an elevated position at Celtic?
By defending a known friend of a paedophile, it brings questions about himself to the fore and also his authority on anything. This is extremely poor judgement. Wilson is an embarrassment to Celtic and this really now turns the spotlight on him.
His judgement is either extremely poor, or is he perhaps afraid that there might be more leaks about the knowledge and/or involvement of others in the Party?
He should be nowhere near Celtic park.

If I was the BBC Scottish version interviewer I would have asked this question completely out of interest : Brian ….’ you and your board have the best and easiest job in Scotland in running the Incredibly successful Celtic FC ! Why then have you bolloxed it up , big time refusing to invest in the club with fortunes available in the bank leaving Celtic in the worst crisis for over a generation and by causing a rift between you and the fans which shall never be forgiven ? ‘ No need for a ‘yes or no’ answer Brian ..you can expand your answer , we’ve got plenty of time !

It does seem poor judgement to have an ex-politician – of any persuasion – appointed to a football Board?
It’s inevitable that they would eventually be publicly ‘defending the indefensible’ at some point out of party loyalty,
and create unnecessary noise around the club – and criticism from the support?
And you’d think whilst he’s interim chairman at least, that Wilson would keep a lower profile. Obviously. 🙁
