Kelechi Iheanacho has been pictured in training at Lennoxtown.
The striker has had a stop-start career at Celtic since his September move as a free agent.
After the Deadline Day decision to sell Adam Idah Celtic found themselves very short of striking options.
Shin Yamada was signed by the club during July but failed to start a match under three different managers.
IHEANACHO- THE IMPACT DEBUT
On his debut, away to Kilmarnock in September Iheanacho came off the bench to score a stoppage time winner but hamstring issues have held him back.
The most recent reported injury was picked up in the League Cup Final against St Mirren on December 14.
Iheanacho was an 84th minute substitute against Falkirk on March 1, just three days after coming off the bench in the 68th minute against Utrecht.
In the two matches since he hasn’t been included in the matchday squad. O’Neill hasn’t been asked any questions about the absent striker.
This morning Celtic released a gallery from training at Lennoxtown, appearing to be taking a full part in the session.
During the January transfer window Celtic added two strikers in Tomas Cvancara and Junior Adamu with both quickly finding the net. Yamada and Johnny Kenny went out on loan.
Having Iheanacho available again would clearly be a big boost for Martin O’Neill with a vital stage of the season fast approaching.
Celtic have virtually no margin for error if they are to retain the SPFL Premiership title but a 10 day spell with have a telling impact.
Two trips to Ibrox alongside visits to Stuttgart and Aberdeen will go a long way towards defining Celtic’s season.
Having Iheanacho in the mix for the striking positions over that period is something that O’Neill would warmly welcome.
It will be lunchtime on Sunday before fans find out whether Iheanacho is involved in the squad to face Kilmarnock on the plastic of Rugby Park.

Parkhead players made of Fu**in Glass…
This season anyway !
So, a brand new look with a huge drop in content?
Been speaking to Celtic’s PR department?
Emoji votes versus disco lights?
Just like the team at CP it seriously lacks quality.
AOC is a minor, but short-term, fix for our 1st team, and that’s dependant on being available.
Let’s hope those clowns on the board finally understand that QUALITY is what we have been, and are, lacking.
£2 million punts should be abandoned a la Lawwell abandoning a sinking ship. Good riddance BTW.
Editor, my intention is constructive criticism and not sniping. Also, Clach and the Hoops recently asked for a breakdown of the 5 WA which I politely refused. However, as so many Tims are clearly in the dark about it, I’m prepared to do that (a synopsis) on condition it’s ‘published’ here and copied, by you, to other Tim sites and friends/acquaintances as it is compulsive knowledge for all Tims and may lead to a campaign to have it challenged in the public domain and shown up for the disgraceful cheating for the sole benefit of the most base ‘institution’ that’s ever blackened Scotia. I’ve seen Lawwell go but it should ONLY be a beginning. There are many more where he came from…….. lodges etc.,…….but together we can and should challenge all of them and prosecute where/when the law has been broken. Over to you, editor and if you can’t facilitate this I’ll understand your position and value any advice on how I can pursue it myself. I’ve certainly tried. I exchanged views and emails with a prominent Res12 guy but it ultimately came to nought. Unfortunately!
But I’m no quitter and this has very good reason to be backed ‘to the hilt’ by Tims everywhere.
The plc interims show the expected drop in revenue v. CL monies last year.
Merchandising revenue is not separately identifiable, but inventory is up c.10%.
For me, the Chairman’s statement seemed overly familiar / personal.
The need to mention the safe standing initiative from 10 years ago jumped off the screen: i.e. the Board is struggling to reference current, specific deliverables?
Also, this – extremely carefully worded – extract could be a valid reason for MN walking away / punted:
“…We currently expect our revenue and profits for the second half of the year ending 30 June 2026 to be significantly lower than the result posted for the first six months of the financial year, and profits for the year ending 30 June 2026 to be lower than the first half of the financial year…
To clarify:
the above extract is almost stating the obvious, comparing first half and second half of the year,
whereas the meaningful inference is that the full year’s financial performance could be disappointing.
