The double-speak of Brian Wilson has been exposed by the Celtic Fans Collective.
On February 5, ahead of the boycotted match against Dundee the interim Chairman appeared on Celtic TV with another plea for unity.
There was a little substance on this with Wilson claiming that he had meetings arranged with supporter groups.
THE PRIORITIES OF CHAIRMAN WILSON
It seems that the Collective was at the bottom of the Chairman’s list despite being the largest and most significant supporter group.
When the Collective suggested points to discuss Wilson pulled out of a meeting planned last week and rescheduled it for today.
That was to allow Celtic executives to attend.
The Collective is made up entirely of volunteers, they rescheduled the meeting but it seems that the club executives have found other things to do this afternoon.
At lunchtime in an email the Collective announced:
A meeting will take place today at 3pm between representatives of Celtic Fans Collective and Celtic FC.
This meeting was originally scheduled for last week but was postponed to allow for the Club to include the executive team. Celtic FC emailed late last night to confirm attendees, and no executives will be present after all.
Representing the Club will be Brian Wilson, George Campbell, Kevin McQuillen and John Paul Taylor.
Clearly the major issue today is the return of the Green Brigade.
Celtic have six more home matches to play this season, the influence of the Green Brigade has been missed since their suspension in November.
There are many issues to be discussed and advanced but on the back of the dramatic win at Kilmarnock they are all secondary to the return of the Green Brigade.
A whole new relationship is required with supporters.
This season the level of stewarding and security has been completely excessive and needs scaled back.
It will be interesting to find out if Wilson can sign off on an agreement today or if he wants to stall and refer a decision to the absent executives.

They’re not doing themselves any favours by ducking an diving,,makes them look very weak,,,you’d think the people at the top would want to be there to put their side across,,they shoulda wheeled Desmonds sprog out, he talks loadsa shite but least got a balls,,, but no self awareness
Great to keep shining a light on Wilson, editor.
He’s a little snake with plenty of disgusting background by mingling with the likes of Bliar, Mandelson et al.
New Labour? Nothing to do with Labour as a cause. They hijacked Labour and have most likely caused the demise of the Labour movement.
I think the intention’s clear with that ‘meeting’. Kick the can down the road another bit as your final sentence shows.
IMO the Collective should have told him to ‘do one’ as there’s no good faith with Celtic plc and no major decisions can be taken without executive presence.
The Collective are merely playing along with this sham and legitimising Wilson and co by doing so.
But I’ll still back the Collective and urge everyone who can to do likewise as they need all the financial backing they can get.
They’ve proved their integrity by doing all they do without taking payment but their work needs to be financed. We’ve needed a spearhead for our support for as long back as I can remember and let’s just say that’s a long fucking time!
Yes, as a non-exec, and only interim Chairman, Wilson has no authority to make operational decisions.
Might have been better to decline this meting until/unless exec team attend?
At least the treatment of supporters by the Board has been consistent throughout this season:
driven by spite from Ireland…?
“….driven by spite from Ireland…?”
Exactly Bob. Hard to imagine what kind of Irishman would be spiteful to Celtic supporters and how many, if any, of his countrymen would agree. But of course Desmond is a special case; he even thought sending his son to ‘call us out’ for being anti-establishment was a sound idea?
FFS, according to legend, another guy sent his son to the wrong place with the wrong message and his son got crucified for it! Same should’ve happened to Ross Desmond. Notice that billionaire leeches always send someone else to do their dirty work, including their sons? The billionaire is only after the ‘dividend’ from others’ labours and should be a title only used when ‘disgusting’ is central to the discussion.
Desmond is despicable and the route of Celtic’s problems but you are a prick who shows the seeds id division with your smart arsed offensive comments on people’s religion.
Funny that! I’ve noticed most narrow-minded individuals get really nasty when they can’t handle another’s point of view or even tongue-in-cheek comment. Hardly an advertisement for religion, is it?
And “offensive”? To you perhaps but that’s YOUR choice. There was NO offence intended and in general offence is taken not given. But never mind, just carry on with your flat-earth, creationist world-view, it’s YOUR prerogative and you’re welcome to it.
I’m an atheist and I found your analogy offensive.
Just as offensive as a lot of your comments are unfunny.
Your ‘boom, boom, bang style of writing is not in the least humorous. It’s a mixture of base patronage, smug supremacism and ‘look at me’ performance exhibitionism that’s wide of the mark. You aren’t interested in having a dialogue. All you want is to posture and preen while flitting from site to site.
Give it a rest.
A Brief Matter of Time
Maybe the proceedings should have been held in the mourning, I have grave doubts for the Stephen Hawking look-a-like interment Chairman’s future. Brian Wilson has gone to a better place to be stood standing alone with a heavy cold without his wooden overcoat or the hot air of his closest executive celebrants, which from the start could cremate a bad procession with the supporters.
The gravity of the situation calls for someone to be able to think outside the box, have ground breaking ideas and the capacity to dig himself out of a hole with a never say die attitude. Not wanting to be the bearer of bad news, with the clock ticking down it is more likely for him to be with a cooperative provider than at the plot to unify the stubborn board and the Collective in the chilly going down of the sun afternoon.
It is a big undertaking but he has a pleasant graveside manner and of corpse he has urned the last rites to plead for unity. Before this heart stopping moment has passed away, this might be the final resting place and the best hope of getting everyone together, where he can’t be accused of kicking the bucket down the road.
It would be a dead giveaway for him to pretend to have blown a casket, using the participants unruly conduct as an excuse to abandon the meeting, so all should deceased from any disruptive behaviour that no body wants.
It’ll be the devil to pay if this encounter isn’t sat out this time, otherwise there will be grave reaper cushions. Let’s not lower our expectations and be looking down on him, whether he’s inside taking soul possession of a satin linctus glass coughin’, remains to be seen!
Before departing his last words were, I’m lying still or was it I’m still lying?
Con, that’s a riot, belly laughs all over the plot!
‘Reaper cushions’ is an all-time classic.
It would descend into Fu**in anarchy if Lucan turned up !
The appointment of Wilson as Chair is a slap in the face to the vast majority of supporters. He is a placeman who has sat on the board for over 20 years and contributed nothing. An empty suit who has never used his columns to defend Celtic in the press, or question the racist and sectarian biases the club faces on a daily basis is Scotland. He has taken his £40,000 pa and given no value for it whatsoever. Whatever salary he takes from the club now is a kind of theft. His only function is as a defender of the Desmonds. You could cut a better man from a hedge.
