Other than Julian Araujo no-one celebrated Celtic’s win over Kilmarnock more than Callum McGregor.
It is more than a decade since the midfielder picked up his first SPL winners medal. The more that he wins the more he wants.
At the age of 33 there are absolutely no guarantees in football, McGregor knows that sooner rather than later he will be looking on at brand new faces in the Celtic midfield.
No-one has contributed more to Celtic’s decade of success than McGregor.
CALLUM MCGREGOR DELIVERS
Now in his fifth season as captain he has been central to the team through a season of unprecedented uncertainty.
With Martin O’Neill back in the dug-out there is a bit of certainty over the direction Celtic are moving in- till the end of this season at least
Some fans have recently been grumbling about McGregor’s performance and the dependency on the skipper.
Without him there would be very little identity and direction about Celtic on the pitch.
As he celebrated a third successive 90 plus minutes goal the relief was written all over the captain’s face. The points at Kilmarnock could be very telling when this season is reviewed in May.
With Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain now at Celtic the midfield burden may extend a little beyond McGregor.
In less than an hour of playing time together it looks like Celtic have two forceful midfielders on the same wavelength.
With a muted atmosphere at Celtic Park there was raw emotion on show from the away support at Rugby Park.
This season’s title race looks like being exceptionally tight. Celtic have very little margin for error.
With McGregor involved this Celtic side is going to push all the way to gain a fifth successive title.
After the excesses and celebrations at Kilmarnock McGregor’s thoughts will already be turning to Thursday and a clash with Stuttgart.

The look on FATMANS was such a delight to see when that 3rd goal went in.
Then you have the tax dodger McCann screaming about how much time was added on,again another picture of pain could watch that pain on his face all day long.
Quite surprised he wasn’t screaming like a banshee regarding his favourite war cry the rule book, the rule book he previously demanded that it be ripped up and put in the bin.
That was 3 very valuable points yesterday the kind of game that we won which just get us over the line fir the title come the end of the season.
Cal-Mac makes all Huns Seasick !
So did Araujo on Sunday !!!
