Neil Lennon has claimed that the record of the Celtic board is impeccable.
Last night’s aggregate defeat to Stuttgart means that it is now 22 years since the hoops won a knock-out tie in a UEFA competition
Lennon was part of the team that got the better of Barcelona in 2004, since then it has been a trail of misery for Celtic on the continent.
As managers Lennon and Brendan Rodgers have had two goes without success. Much like Ronny Deila, Gordon Strachan and O’Neill Version 2.0.
LENNON IGNORES REPEATED EUROPEAN FAILURES
Celtic fans have cushioned repeated European failures with domestic domination but being one step ahead in Scotland is a dangerous situation.
Going into March Celtic are the third best team in Scotland. During 2025 they lost cup finals to St Mirren and Aberdeen, two clubs that are well out of the top six.
Any club that goes through three changes of management by the start of January clearly has some serious problems. Celtic’s problems seem to centre on recruitment.
Fan unrest and protests have become the norm but last night Lennon was keen to play that down.
“The recruitment has been disappointing” ??

Something was not right in the summer in terms of the recruitment. I don’t know what it was. There were some grievances with Brendan who was definitely disconnected, and you could see the reasons why at the end.
There’s no director of football at the minute, that needs to be addressed.
Overall, the recruitment has been disappointing. You’re not going to get it right every year, but I do add value to some of the fans’ questions as to why they didn’t spend more money or bring more quality in.
Certainly with Carter-Vickers being out, he’s been a big loss. They knew he was out long-term, but didn’t bring a mature centre-half in to compliment Scales. They might have tried to do that, January is always a tough window.
There are valid questions to be asked of the board. But over the piece, over the past 15 years, the board’s record has been impeccable.
Lennon is currently the manager of Dunfermline who are on a run of picking up just one point from their last four matches in the SPFL Championship.
That has resulted in them dropping out of the play-off places but wins over Hibs and Kelty Hearts have given them a place in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup.
Aberdeen visit East End Park next Saturday which gives Lennon the opportunity to demonstrate his own managerial ability.
Despite being a legendary player fans have been increasingly critical of Lennon for what appears blind support for the Celtic directors.
Appearances in the media rarely involve any criticism of the way that the club is run.

Shut the f#ck up Neil , you’re not getting the manager’s job again . No amount of arse licking is getting you it , just shut up while your reputation is still intact with the support .
That’s what he’s hoping to get offered.
“…over the past 15 years, the board’s record has been impeccable.”
From The DR:
“…When asked about whether he was offered the job in the shower, [NL] said:
“No. Peter and Mr Desmond and a few members of the board came in afterwards into the shower area and they had a five minute chat and said they wanted to offer me the job…”
Don’t think I’ve come across anyone since that day in May 2019, who considered the above decision as “impeccable”. 🙁
10 12 15 million pound players fanbase ain’t stupid no one wants to spend crazy money on players but to not spend any is unforgivable.
How much have we paid HMRC over the years.
Neil losing his credibility.
Sreve your reply just sums you up, not a nice person!!
John Hail Hail
Rubbish again!!
Making a play for the Director Of Football gig by the sounds of it….. “I signed Wanyama, Hooper, Van Dijk, Forster” etc…. Although when you put it that way, it does sound like he’d probably make a vastly better job of it than recent postholders, such as the chairman’s unqualified son and the spoofer in a bunnet from Exeter City….
Lennon is as bad as Mulgrew both of them full of there own self-importance with not a credible opinion between them. I have zero interest in what either of them have to say and certainly wouldn’t pay to go and listen to them I would rather visit the dentist.
It wisnea right when you were there either. You started the fckn rot. Needed a centre half and left back for champs league. You bought Julian and bolingoli for qualifiers and never played them. Calum mcgregor at left back I recall? All downhill from there. So shut the fck up.
Any ex player or manager who is happy to scratch the current suits baws for them in the hope of a handout along the line, should expect their judgement, trustworthiness and loyalty to be questioned.
A mouthpiece for Lawwell whom he no doubt owes many favours.
Lawwell and Lennon,
Blew the Ten,
Never let them near,
Our Celtic again!
Maybe Lennon will be the legend to front Haughey’s new trust.
I’d prefer to see him “fronting” a bus at the moment, Wee Jock, just before it…… you know! His “legend” status is, if he ever attained that, gone by his own actions and mouth. “Impeccable” being the last straw. His “legend” status was more due to heinous acts against him than anything else but I’ll always respect him for standing up to it.
Good God Joe that Lennon is like a bad smell lingering around the place, please someone tell him to f@#k off and remind him he f@#ked up our 10 inr, prick should concentrate on his own team and keep his arse licking opinions to himself
Fk off lennon, your an arse licking bawbag.
Lucan Lucan – Gie’s a job !
