Chris Sutton had no sympathy for Neil McCann following Celtic’s3-2 win at Kilmarnock.
After the match the home boss expressed his surprise at the decision to play seven minutes of stoppage time.
Four minutes is almost the minimum time added on at the end of a second half, seven isn’t exceptional.
McCann has sat in plenty of commentary boxes describing late drama, it happens in football.
Sutton has on co-commentary duties for Sky Sports when Julian Araujo scored Celtic’s dramatic winning goal. Then raced in with the fans to celebrate.

A check through the official SPFL commentary on the match should enlighten McCann over where the stoppage time came from.
SUTTON CLAIM BACKED UP
There were breaks in the 56th and 64th minutes after Celtic scored.
In the 62nd minute there was a two minute stoppage to allow treatment to Brad Lyons, during that break both teams made one substitution.
In the 67th, 70th and 74th minutes players were booked.
Between the 78th and 79th minutes Kilmarnock made three substitutions, Celtic made one. With boards required for each change and players walking off in slow motion it racks up.
In the 81st minute play was stopped for an injury to Tyreece John-Jules. After treatment on the pitch he was replaced. The SPFL recorded that at one minute.
The SPFL website didn’t record a stoppage for treatment to Dom Thompson for a head knock blocking a James Forrest cross.
It wasn’t any sort of stretch to add on seven minutes of stoppage time.
Running the clock down or time management is part of football.
McCann and his players are second bottom of the SPFL table for a reason.
Running the clock down is as much of an art as going to the final whistle chasing a winning goal.
Sutton and McCann both have the winners medals to prove the value of playing beyond the 90th minute.
Wee turncoat McCann should just shut up. His team had the same 7 minutes to win the game but they chose to settle for a point. I do ‘t see him or the village idiot mentioning the 2 blatant handball penalties we weren’t given. Bitter scumbags.
I smiled when you said Chris Sutton ran onto the pitch to celebrate with the Celtic Fans. He should have grabbed Michael Nicholson and invited Michael to run with him. There’s more to football than money.
On YouTube, Chris has just posted his prediction for Macclesfield FC vs Brentford (FA cup). I listened to the Robert Smethurst business story (sad) and how he bought the liquidated Club in 2020. It was a recent BBC Podcast. Robert said he wasn’t in it for the money but the pleasure he got from the Fans enjoyment. Macclesfield FC are a 6 th Tier EFL? team and beat Chelsea in the FA Cup in January 2026.
I thought the time wasting from Kilmarnock was bordering on the ridiculous. The keeper especially was at the whole game .

I timed the stoppages as I often do 11 minutes!! So shut up you little cretin! Actually ,big Sutton said in Sky Sports commentary that he was surprised that it was only 7 minutes of added time ! It’s a pity he wasn’t as opinionated about the bigoted tunes being constantly heard sung out by the Kilmarnock ‘ fans ‘ all throughout the game ? Speaking of the SS , why was Darren O’ Dea surplus to requirements by them for theRangers v Hearts game ? He was there for the Celtic v Kilmarnock game then Shankland of Hearts was in his place supporting his club …theRangers ! Maybe big Darren forgot to turn the living room light on and they let him go home dearly as it was getting dark ?

It’s time Celtic called out the two penalty non decisions, the huns aren’t slow to do it to put the fear into refs to not giving penalties against Sevco.
