The telling Ange Postecoglou warning that Celtic ignored

Incredibly there are some Celtic fans interpreting the rejection of a£25m bid for Arne Engels as a sign of boardroom brilliance!

It is anything but. Almost the reverse in every way.

A competent well run club would have accepted the offer to double their money on the Belgian midfielder.

THE CELTIC MODEL STRATEGY

Shaped by Peter Lawwell and now led by Michael Nicholson Celtic are the exact opposite of a well run club.

One with an interim manager, an interim chairman and a loathed hologram as CEO. A team propped up by loan signings ahead of a summer exodus.

Ange Postecoglou and Brendan Rodgers delivered success, behind them Celtic have never been well run.

Complacency is a virus, something that Celtic excels in.

They even have their media messengers out there telling their audience that Celtic are the best run club in Europe. Apparently the envy of most clubs on the continent!

Postecoglou knows how the football market operates. Genuinely a man of the world. Not where a familiar surname opens doors and provides jobs and salaries.

While Postecoglou warned of what Celtic needed to do the club appointed Mark Lawwell to head up recruitment. The Head of Content on the Manchester City website.

Summer 2023 was the worst ever for Celtic recruitment. Summer 2025 comes a close second.

With those factors combined you come to the current state of play. A fourth management team backed up by five January loan signings. One with a heart condition, another with less experience than Jahmai Simpson Pussey.

Celtic are two injuries away from a central defensive pairing of Dane Murray and Benjamin Arthur.

If only Celtic had listened to Ange rather than rubbed their hands at the Tottenham compensation cheque.

This summer there is likely to be massive change at Celtic. Without Postecoglou, Dom McKay and Frank Trimboli there are real grounds for concern.

How do you rate Celtic's January transfer window?

Joe McHugh has edited Video Celts since 2010, every day covering events in and around Scotland's most successful club.

When a six year stretch at the Sunday Mirror came to an end it was clear that the future was digital, print had ran its race.

Smart phones and social media created a new landscape, Video Celts has certainly made an impact with Joe described as having an unhealthy obsession by Peter Lawwell at the 2024 Celtic AGM. A priceless endorsement.

There are issues breaking around the clock, no two days are the same. More than 50 years on from his first match Joe is enjoying the ongoing successes of Celtic.

Cherry picking here, to suit the narrative of the day.
Celtic FC rejected several significant offers to Transfer Henrik Larsson. The real big offers were from Man United
and Newcastle Utd. At these times, Henrik was not ready to move. Fans also wanted him to stay. I know then and now is under different management.

Where I come from, Pentacostal Christians are called Happy Clappers After 9 am Mass on Sunday the Farming Community would go to a Pub in the Village and stay till Lunch was eaten. It was a way of catching up with friends and share news. I was told, we were called Cathaholics. That’s OK.

Editor: That sort of heart-warming anecdote is probably better appreciated by P67 and the clowns over on Thick News.

Your blog always brings a smile to my face, Joe. Keep up the good work.

Ange left Celtic and it had nothing to do with how the club is mismanaged.

Even if we were a well run club alongside the likes of Bodo or Bruges, he would have left. Furthermore he was a bit sneaky the way he went about it.

He was our best manager for me since Mr Stein. He warned us not to fall in love with players but he should have said the same about managers with ambition for themselves.

Blogs are about opinions. Calling people with opinions that differ from your own ‘clowns’ or to post it on another site you don’t like shows more about yourself Joe than it does about the poster.

Can we stop slagging off other Celtic fans and players just in the door, please?

    Cheers

Editor: I’m not fooled by an opening compliment from one of the lads from Thick News. A first time comment on here has Thick News stamped all over it.

As soon as Lawwell Mini was imposed on him Ange realised that he had to leave. He signed off with a treble.

I will call out anyone exactly as I wish, if it causes you distress head back to the comfort of Thick News. The lads on Thick News, happy clappers and board apologists will be called out at every turn on this site.

Calling out Joe just because he has a different opinion from you must obviously say more about you Larkin 1907. Could that be hypocrisy? Mmmmmm!
