The Daily Record is pulling out of Glasgow with printing being switched to Oldham.
So much for Scotland’s Champion. Another consequence of The Vow from 2014 when the ailing Glasgow publisher rallied around the Act of Union.
The Daily Record is the top title of the Reach Group but print sales are now below 37,000 a day and falling by around 17% year on year.
In 2024 the Record closed down their Anderston HQ switching their editorial function to a couple of office floors in the city centre.

That building was iconic on the west side of the Kingston Bridge, further along the M8 the Cardonald Prints Works is to close.
As well as the Record and Sunday Mail local title such as the Hamilton Advertiser, Rutherglen Reformer, East Kilbride News and others are also printed at Cardonald.
In the seventies the Scottish Daily Express switched printing to Manchester and never recovered.
These days the Express, Daily Star, Daily Record and Sunday Mail are all part of the Reach Media Group.
With circulations of just 313 between June and December 2025 it is difficult to imagine the East Kilbride News surviving the switch to Oldham.

Despite the crash in print circulation the Record is sending two reporters to the USA in June to cover the World Cup Finals.
Recently the Record has switched on a paywall requiring £4.99 a month to read more than nine articles a month. Apparently this is for premium content. The market will decide on that.
The Record remains a trusted media partner of Celtic with special media conferences for their ailing newspaper friends.
In December the Record splashed with the completely fictitious story of a Celtic fan threatening board members with a knife at Tannadice.
No correction or apology has been published.
