Chris Sutton was quick off the mark as Celtic won at Ibrox to reach the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.
After two goal-less hours the match went to a penalty shoot out.
The home side won the toss and selected to take the first penalty.
They won the second toss to take the first penalty, generally a massive advantage on a shoot out.
Substitute James Tavernier had taken the armband from Jack Butland. The former Wigan ace took the first penalty.
Tavernier skied it over the bar as one stand at Ibrox celebrated while the others fell silent.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain stepped up and sent his penalty past Jack Butland.
The penalties weren’t great but they all went in until Djedi Gassama stepped up.
The former Sheffield Wednesday winger sent it way over the bar. Suddenly Celtic had two penalties to go through at the home of their arch rivals.
A lot of unhappy Bears on the pitch…

Tomas Cvancara had the first opportunity to seal the tie. He didn’t mess around, he popped it past Butland and the tie was over. Celtic went through 4-2.
Sutton played in a few Glasgow Derbies but never one that went to penalties.
It had been a backs to the wall performance from Celtic who were without Callum McGregor and Kieran Tierney.
In the first half it looked like Daizen Maeda had given Celtic the lead with a header but following a VAR review it was disallowed.
There weren’t any great chances at either end over the two hours with a shoot-out looking inevitable for some time.
The Police were on the pitch after the final whistle with the Celtic players rushed off without getting a proper ovation from their 7,500 fans.
On Saturday Celtic host Motherwell in the SPFL knowing that a win will take them to just two points behinf leaders Hearts

The overwhelming feeling I have after this result?
Why oh why oh why was Nancy allowed to replace MON?
I am absolutely certain we would be at least 2pts clear in the league if not more if the Nancy debacle never happened.
MON has proved today that he is no cheque book manager, in fact, he may be proving he’s the best man manager to ever grace the game here.
If we do lose the league, it’s entirely on the Nancy appointment and those that thought it prudent.
Quite so, Bhoy4life.
Listening to Sportsound just now for the reaction
and they sound utterly crestfallen
Not ushered off quick enough as there raging can’t take a loss fans tried to assault our players. Scum bags. Although the narrative as always peddled out was it’s both set of fans. Be interesting what the rats at the sfa have to say. Well done MON for throwing it back in the media’s face and concentrating on the fact we won. SUPERB
Quite so, Bhoy4life.
I posted on here ladt week leafing up to the 2-2 game abd predicted that should sevco lose the game their fans will invade the pitch,no defeat no invasion.
Fast forward a week sevco do lose the game, season all but over and we have the pitch invasion.
Tuned into radio shortbread after the game and supersnoreboard,F**K I thought had tuned into a funeral parlour.
Well done Madman Mars, only 3 spelling mistakes in the first sentence. The excitement at finally getting it right for once must have been too much for your typing hand.
The Joker will be delighted as will Scud Missile as will Stephen and not forgetting the horde of other aliases you’ve adopted over the years.
Thank the lord you’ve dropped the ‘ Miss Dianne and Benny references’, very dated. Well until the next article and try calming down when posting, use both hands. It stops your mind and even hands from wandering.
Worst old firm We put on A VERY BAD LINE UP but we go through Forrest is over the HILL
Editor: O** F***? I think you are on the wrong site as well as the wrong decade. God bless Jamesie the most successful player in the history of Scottish football.
Another thing, the narrative all season has been how poor, how shite we are.
No one can dispute we have been.
But where’s the narrative that an obviously shite Celtic are in the semis of the Scottish cup AND ahead of the mighty Sevco in the league and who have apparently been resurgent having spent millions?
Where’s that discussion?
I also hope that pishy auld twat Keevins is choking on his own sick the night, I don’t listen to it anymore as I can’t stand the sound of the kent.
Side note…..hope wee Danny has prepared not to be the golden boy anymore cos it’s about to do a 180 wi fans and the media…
That is an excellent post & i couldn’t agree more with you , sweetest thing about the game was despite the fact Der Hun dominated once again they came up short & the poor dears as usual couldn’t accept defeat gracefully , they will probably cause more trouble in the Town Centre , & pity help their poor wives & partners when they get home , as for Danny it Will be a case of ( Danny your a hole Danny your a hole )
Sevco are bad SHITE,lol, but we are good SHITE.
But a win is a win and I will take that win anyway it happens.
Another thing about Celtic which is conveniently missed by the Huns and their press acolytes is Celtic played 3 games more than them in the same period…..Stuttgart x 2 and Aberdeen.
So well done for that alone
Peter Brady @ 5.31pm…
The ‘old firm’ you speak of is dead as the dinasours !
