Danny Rohl taunts 7,500 Celtic fans

Danny Rohl is expecting to shut up 7,500 Celtic fans on Sunday.

After an eight year wait fans of Scotland’s most successful club are going to Ibrox on a mission.

A goal from Odsonne Edouard in March 2018 proved to be one too many for Dave King.

That 3-2 win made it four consecutive away wins in Scotland’s newest Derby fixture with home fans sickened by the scenes in the Free Broomloan.

Scott Brown briefly slipped on a pair of shades, in the top tier Leigh Griffiths was flying the flag as fans celebrated all around.

Since then Celtic’s allocation has varied between zero, 800 and 2,000.

The 2,000 away fans roared their side back into the game at Ibrox last Sunday.

ROHL IS IN FOR A SHOCK

So much so that 48,000 bears were silenced. By the time of the final whistle Rohl wasn’t winning any popularity contests as he sheepishly went round the pitch.

Last Friday Rohl was mouthing off about Kasper Schmeichel and Celtic’s failure to beat Stuttgart 3-0.

This week the Celtic support was on the end of a warning from the lanky Ibrox boss.

QUESTION: There will be 7,500 away fans at Ibrox…

ROHL:

Of course it will have an impact. If we play 50 minutes like we did then the 7,500 will also be quiet. I think this is the part in the game where you feel it. We influence, we can influence, we can make the impact on our performance on the pitch.

The atmosphere was incredible. 50 minutes, really incredible. It was amazing to feel this. We pushed our players forward, forward. Then it comes to 2-1 and you feel it in the stadium as well. But this is also part of the game.

Maybe we can do it together, that we come through these small minutes where you feel the opponent comes in better into the game. But this 50 minutes was really, really outstanding. I really enjoyed this, to be in the touchline in such a game.

Rohl has been living off a 3-1 win over Wilfried Nancy in January, the only achievement on Rohl’s Ibrox CV.

Even the Gullible & Deluded can see through the spin of three draws in their last four matches, either side of beating Hearts 4-2.

At the media conference Rohl was unable to offer an explanation for the incredible fall off in his side’s second half performance in the draw with Celtic.

The novelty of not being Russell Martin has a limited timespan, Rohl may very soon be entering that zone.
