Celtic Supporters Limited has published at update as they prepare to step up their shareholding related activities.
The CSL was formed in the autumn with the purpose of mobilising Celtic shares through some diverse means.
It is estimated that 20% of Celtic shares are dormant with events since1995 meaning that many that bought in under Fergus McCann are no longer connected.
By activating some of those shares and gaining their proxy the CSL is hoping to muster a worthwhile stake in Celtic.
CELTIC SHARES STALEMATE
Should those plans come to fruition the CSL is hoping to engage with significant shareholders outside of Dermot Desmond’s circle of influence.
The Irish businessman directly owns around 35% of the shares in Celtic. With the remainder of the shares in various hands Desmond’s influence on the club is virtually unchallenged.

On Twitter CSL announced:
Members Update: News Coming. Over the past number of months we have been working quietly behind the scenes building the next phase of Celtic Supporters Limited. The direction is now clear.
The strategy is taking shape. The next steps are significant. In the coming weeks we will hold a Members Meeting where we will outline:
• The strategy for CSL and what we are building
• Progress on shareholder engagement and share activity
• How we intend to grow the organisation
• What comes next for supporter influence and ownership
• New initiatives that will involve members directly There is serious momentum building and some important developments to share.
If you are already a member, keep an eye out for the meeting announcement. You will receive an email invite. If you are not yet a member, now is the time to join and be part of what is being built. More details soon.
The goals of the CSL seemed quite clear cut but have been complicated by Willie Haughey’s proposed Celtic Season Ticket Holders Alliance.
That plan was announced on February 26 through Go Radio with little in the way of detail.
Haughey suggested that for every 10,000 Season Ticket holders that commit he will provide £2m worth of shares.
In theory that could result in £10m worth of shares in a new organisation. Who would be selling the shares is difficult to work out.
It is possible that the CSL and Alliance may have some overlap but over the coming weeks more detail is likely over the short term plans of the CSL.
Duncan Smillie is the Chair of the CSL with David Low, Brian McLaughlin and Peter McGowan the three directors.
Celtic’s 2025 AGM lasted less than one hour before being aborted by Peter Lawwell. Less than a month later Lawwell resigned as Chairman.
Over the course of this season fans have watched the formation of the Collective, CSL and shortly the Alliance.

Keep the pressure on Lucan and his cohorts !
