Footage has finally emerged of the brutal John Souttar attack on Junior Adamu at Ibrox.
Just before the half hour mark a high ball was played towards the on-loan Celtic striker.
Knowing that he had licence to do whatever he liked Souttar didn’t hold back.
As Souttar moved to head the ball he led with both knees knowing that he had the cushion of his opponents to crash into. For good measure Adamu was pushed in the face before taking 15 stone of the Ibrox defender full on.
Adamu had no expectation that he was going to get hammered. As he followed the ball he felt the full force of Souttar clatter through him.
For older readers it was just a degree or two short of the infamous Toni Schumacher attack on Patrick Battiston of France at the 1982 World Cup.
SOUTTAR GOES ALL IN
With John Beaton as referee Souttar knew that any punishment would be minimal.
No free kick was given, no card issued.
Play resumed with a throw-in.
There was no half-time analysis from the Sky Sports team. Likewise BBC Sportscene completely body-swerved the incident.
With Don Robertson in charge of Sunday’s Scottish Cup tie Celtic players can expect more of the same at Ibrox.
Robertson likes to let players leave the boot in leading to some spectacular stats in the matches he takes charge of.
In September Celtic had 77% possession in their 0-0 draw with Hibs.
David Gray’s side barely got a sniff of the ball but Robertson awarded them 16 free kicks. Celtic got one free kick, in the 88th minute.
Before the Scottish Cup tie Celtic have to overcome an SPFL trip to Aberdeen where Nick Walsh is in charge.
The schoolteacher from Boclair Academy has had a horrific season to date with Richard King of St Mirren successfully appealing his sending off against Motherwell last week.
Facing Beaton, Walsh and Robertson over eight days will be a huge test of Celtic’s prospects for success this season.

wis that a wee fly tap with the boot from raskin while he was down as well ?
Well, lets be honest, if it was a wee fly tap, it wiz just the same as Butlands tap fae Trusty….mind the one?
That tap that nearly decapitated him and the tap the scoatish media went into weeks of meltdown about?
Cheats with whistles flags and monitors then…
Cheats with whistles flags and monitors now…
Cheats with whistles flags and monitors forever and ever and ever and ever !
