Amid the violence and thuggery of a home defeat in the Scottish Cup at Ibrox the actions of Andrew Dallas are escaping scrutiny in legacy media outlets.
Dallas is one of two full time VAR officials, a fellow member of the influential Lanarkshire Refereeing Association.
Willie Collum is also a member of the Lanarkshire Refereeing Association.
Despite a clear lack of ability Dallas and Collum rose through the ranks of refereeing at the same time.
DADDY’S BOY- ANDREW DALLAS
Both men owe their careers and full time salaries to the endorsement of Hugh Dallas.
Without Hugh Dallas Collum would be a third rate school teacher while Andrew Dallas would be working as a used car salesmen.
Both men were key to the action at Ibrox as Celtic visited for a Scottish Cup quarter-final tie.
For good measure Collum appointed David Roome as one of the assistant referees. Roome is a close friend of Bobby Madden who encouraged his mate into the easy money of refereeing.
I’m not sure from the angle you can tell if he’s on or offside. I’m not sure how the technology can tell what’s the deepest body part from here either but you’ve got to trust it can

In the 35th minute at Ibrox Daizen Maeda stooped to send a header goalwards. As is standard in this fixture Super Jack Butland panicked, fumbling the ball as it trundled into the net.
Naturally there would be a VAR check.
Maeda was clearly onside as attention switched to Liam Scales as he ran back to flick on a header to Maeda.
The image below is inconclusive. There is no evidence to show that Scales was offside.
VAR DECISION TIME
There are two options with that level of technology. One is to in it, the other is to leave the onfield decision which was a goal to Celtic.
More than five minutes after disallowing the goal the VAR image was released to Premier Sports.
Two thickish lines running through a ruck of players.
Nothing to see here. Between BBC Scotland and Premier Sports the only pundit to question the decision was Michael Stewart.
Despite massively expanding the 2026 World Cup Finals there won’t be any of Collum’s top officials selected by FIFA for that month long jolly.
Whether call was right or wrong, this has to be a watershed for VAR in Scotland. Either we do VAR properly or not at all. The angles and lines are a joke. pic.twitter.com/PSuHkjc6Yc

Select VideoCelts as a “Preferred Source” on Google News for direct access to the content you can trust.

why is the VAR camera always in front of the action as in it’s always on the edge of the area ,never inline with the goal mouth action ,they cannot make any judgement on offside if a camera is stuck in one focal point in front of the play even going frame by frame which the don’do would be useless as the camera is fixed or are they selective on which camera they use as you would think if sky can pick up the action from every angle then why not VAR
This is what you get when we in wee Scotland get the 50 bob version of VAR…. complete ineptitude ? We receive the ‘ second class ‘ form of VAR where there are 8 camera angles tops I believe to work from where in englandland and Europe it’s between 18 and 22 angles in which to attempt to reach a correct decision ? You get the feeling that the governing bodies’ attitude to this pathetic reality is that it’s ‘ aw it’s only Scotland …nobody will tipple and be any the wiser ! ‘ How can there be complete fairness and morals in our game when we have to endure such shallow practices and indifference every single game and week from the people who administer it ? It’s a disgrace from the very top …maladroit idiots !
Strange strange lines…
They made it very clear indeed that Nygren’s at Aberdeen was onside…
So why not at Liebrox…
Ah silly old me – It was Sevco who were the opponents !
