In trademark fashion Celtic have made no comment on the news about Kasper Schmeichel.
Late on Tuesday, after Manchester City’s defeat from Real Madrid viewers to CBS were given the first news that the season is over for the goalkeeper. And with that his Celtic career.
Live on air, alongside his Dad, Peter, the Celtic keeper revealed some gruesome details about the extent of the damage to his shoulder.
Two operations are required, rehab will take 10-12 months. Next season will be a write-off.
At the age of 40 Schmeichel won’t find it straightforward to regain match fitness. Nor will it be easy to find a club prepared to give him a contract or training facilities.
Schmeichel admitted that he had recently dislocated his shoulder. And continued to play.
Anything that handicaps the mobility of a goalkeeper is a very serious matter. Apparently Schmeichel had been playing through the use of pain-killers as he chased his World Cup dream.
Mine and every single one of those £550+ paying STH’s, away and European travelling supporters and those who watch on TV worldwide’s priority is Celtic (the club who pay your wages)
Not one person on this or in person will convince me this isn’t pure selfishness from Schmeichel https://t.co/aVxq2Vjyal

The comments raise all sorts of issues about Celtic, both the management and medical team.
NO ANSWER TO CELTIC’S SCHMEICHEL DILEMMA
Martin O’Neill has been very diplomatic about his crocked goalkeeper in recent weeks.
But referencing saves against Feyenoord in November has a limited time-span.
Celtic could have got in front of the story first thing this morning. The club doesn’t like players speaking outside of their own activities.
They chose not to. By 5pm tonight the only content today on the club website is two previews of a match for the Woman’s team.
That approach has left the issue wide open to speculation, and blame.
Between the player, the medical team and four managers that have selected Schmeichel to play for Celtic.
As ever it looks like the club will just let the story run and run.
Martin O’Neill will be asked about the issue on Friday when he hosts a media conference.
As usual Michael Nicholson has been found wanting.
There are serious concerns about the club’s medical team. Summer signings, and especially their agents will have questions to ask.
A CEO that had an interest in the welfare of players and is committed to the image of the club would have had Gerry McCulloch for company first thing in the morning.
Wednesday is Brian Wilson’s day for penning a Scotsman column blaming the SNP for the woes of the world.
And if it hadn’t been for CBS employing Peter Schmeichel on Tuesday night no one would be any the wiser over Celtic’s crocked keeper.
NOTE: Schmeichel made no reference to Celtic during the discussion on his injury and need for surgery.

You’ve go to think that Schmeichel withheld the extent of his injuries from MON and the medical team?
Because if they knew, then they surely couldn’t have fielded him – if only for potential, insurance related liabilities?
Whatever the truth, Schmeichel – as a seasoned pro – should have declared himself unfit for selection …a long time ago?
Like our medical team missed this??? Like there wasn’t a wee indication or 2 during training or matches???
Will this end up costing us big time???
The ‘medical’ ?? team have missed a helluva lot this season and player medicals going back further…
But with a CEO like Lucan who is in the slightest fu**in bit surprised !
Another reason why this INCOMPETENT and LYING board should be removed totally together with the absent landlord who is as useless as a square golf ball.
