Brian Riemer has had his say on the Kasper Schmeichel injury saga.
The Danish boss was minutes away from clinching a World Cup place at Hampden in November but now has a one in four chance of reaching the finals in the summer.
The Danes first face North Macedonia, if they come through that the play Ireland or the Czech Republic for a place in the finals.
Schmeichel has been the backbone of the Danish side for more than a decade but now Riemer has to prepare without his most experienced player.
A YEAR ON FROM SCHMEICHEL INJURY
The legendary ‘keepers injury saga started in Lisbon exactly a year ago with consequences that no-one could have guessed at.
Celtic fans have a variety of questions over the player and club management.
The Danes go into crucial match/matches hoping that they have a Vil Sinisalo ready to step out of the shadows.
After a midweek dominated by announcements on CBS Champions League coverage life goes on now for Celtic and Denmark.
With the Daily Record reporting Riermer saying:
Kasper called me and told me that his injury is worse than initially thought.
It’s sad news to receive. It’s really a shame if such a fantastic career as Kasper’s has to end with a serious injury.
Kasper has always played with a beating heart for both his clubs and the national team, and I think that is worth emphasising and remembering.
Now we have to see how the operation goes and wish him all the best.
Martin O’Neill will have his say at lunchtime today with the injury timeline of most concern to Celtic fans.
It is well established that players go on through the pain barrier but the Schmeichel case seems way more complex than most.
Over the weekend Celtic can put the issue to bed but the Danes have possibly two huge matches coming up without their most inspirational leader.

International career over with that statement for sure…
Will he back at Celtic though !
No. However, he still pulls a fantastic salary.
