Ibrox fans are demanding the removal of Simply The Best for the entry of Celtic onto the pitch at their stadium.
Since the early nineties the Tina Turner song has been a regular feature of the matchday experience for both Ibrox clubs.
In its pomp it summed up the triumphalism of Dave Murray’s club as theBank of Scotland made dreams come true with the exception of winning the European Cup.
At the turn of the century the anthem was dropped for a while after it was highlighted how the home fans had inserted their favourite lines about the Pope and the IRA into the classic.
THE FORMER IBROX ANTHEM
Tellingly Tina Turner refused to go near Ibrox, she knew what the club and their fans are all about. Not something that anyone credible would want associated with.
For years the new club formed by Charles Green in 2012 kept it off the playlist but with nothing to celebrate it returned to give suffering bears a reminder of nicer, simpler terms.
The good old days when top players like Stefan Klos, Tore Andre Flo, Barry Ferguson and Neil McCann were paid token wages while huge sums evaded Prince Andrew’s Mum as they were paid into offshore trusts.
That scam led indirectly to the death of Rangers.
After being deluded for so long it seems like a lot of bears are fed up with their anthem being mocked by fans of Scotland’s most successful club.
Another thing.
Can we get rid of Simply the Best when the team comes out?

Celtic fans at Ibrox with simply the best rendition of “Simply The Best” – much to the chagrin of the Rangers support who were shocked into silence.

Bears are in agreement
I agree with this. We need something different. A tune/song that is a battle cry. Something that builds tension. Not a song by a dead singer that was released nearly 40 years ago.

And it blasts out so loud you can’t hear the crowd. I suggest the Billy Boys or Penny Arcade If they have to play anything at all.

It is brutal. Kills the atmosphere when he plays the five minute version. Especially old firm games when the stadium is ready to let rip.

Love the song. But time for a shake up. I’d like to hear them coming out to Penny Arcade

Agreed – we haven’t been ‘Simply The Best’ for years – same as that ‘Every Saturday We Follow’ should cease to exist since we’re no longer the “most successful team in football”

The whole atmosphere before the game is terrible
Playlist is shit! The music after the goals horrendous, the music for the teams coming out for 2nd half
Shit!

Celtic fans love the pain it has caused. They’ve not just adopted it, they own it and will probably soon have copyright on it as well.
CLAIMED BY CELTIC
The December 2024 League Cup win took Celtic beyond the combined trophy count of both Ibrox clubs, a FACT! that the Scottish media couldn’t recognise.
That was followed up in May by Celtic becoming the first Scottish club to be champions 55 times.
Everyone in football knows that Real Madrid are the world’s most successful club. In Scotland, in Glasgow everyone knows which club is Simply The Best however you wish to measure that.
As the bears above confirm.

Sevco should run out to Jamie T’s 2014 hit ‘Zombie’. That would be totally appropriate.
Before they adopted ‘Mull of Kintyre’ Nottingham Forest also ran out to ‘Simply The Best’ which caused some consternation among their traditional fanbase who preferred the stirring and more locally flavoured closing theme from 1950s TV show The Adventures of Robin Hood….
Robin Hood, Robin Hood, Riding through the glen
Robin Hood, Robin Hood, With his band of men
Feared by the bad, Loved by the good
Robin Hood, Robin Hood, Robin Hood.
Quite the tune, although there is a crappy second verse as well.
How about ‘ The Pretender ‘ by the majestic Jackson Browne ? Isn’t that what all tribute acts do …kid everybody on by impersonation ? Or ‘ Tangled Up In Blue ‘ by Mr Zimmerman ? Maybe ‘ Dry Your Eyes ‘ co written by Neil Diamond and Robbie Robertson ? Lots and lots of ditties to pick from .
Whilst on that, what about ‘The Celtic Song’ by Glen Daly, it’s fukkin atrocious, typically politically correct garbage and should never see another day.
Now if anyone has a recording of the old Celtic end and the Jungle singing it then just replace Glen Daly’s pitiful crap with the REAL Celtic support?
For any of you PC snowflakes please just order your Horlicks and Werthers Originals and skip this.
FRITZ!
Simply DE pressed Sevco !
