GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - MARCH 01: Celtic Manager Martin O'Neill (L) and Referee John Beaton (R) shake hands at full time during a William Hill Premiership match between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox Stadium, on March 01, 2026, in Glasgow, Scotland. (Photo by Craig Foy/SNS Group via Getty Images)
Celtic were denied two penalties at Ibrox as John Beaton and Steven McLean refused to apply the Laws of the Game.
Helpfully Sky Sports also turned a blind eye to the incidents as they protect Willie Collum and Gordon Duncan.
Once a month Collum and Duncan get together to gaslight football fans as they explain how black was white as the same old faces produce the same old outcomes and results. They call it the VAR Review. It is anything but.
Sky and legacy media reactions shape the agenda.
Last weekend a penalty claim involving Mikey Moore was replayed on a loop. The short pull on Liam Scales by Jack Ireland barely got a look in.
CELTIC DENIED JUSTICE ON SUCCESSIVE WEEKENDS
Scales was again involved yesterday, again from a corner, this time in the 11th minute when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain swung the ball in.
Taking note of last week’s decision where you can hold a Celtic player’s jersey for an unknown length of time Tochi Chukwuani stepped up.
Chukwuani took note of Scales and started with a push. As the Celtic defender moved towards the front post it switched to a rugby challenge with both arms around Scales.
McLean and Kevin Clancy on VAR bottled out of applying the Laws of the Game.
Sky normally thrives on controversy didn’t want to know. No replay, no slow motion, no alternative angles.
No replay on the next VAR Review as Collum and Duncan whitewash their way through the incidents at Ibrox.
Don’t hold your breath. W/dn’t let a caller ask a genuine question of a rule book yellow at the penalty incident. Told him they’d enough to debate without his query. Go look at a proper ref at B/mouth yesterday, one handed shirt pull, less than a sec, immediate yellow. Go figure

In the 82nd minute there was another incident that would be a penalty anywhere else in Europe.
THE BIG COVER UP
No SFA officials will be anywhere near the World Cup Finals.
Dujon Sterling started with a push, resorted to a shirt pull then ended up bundling Sebastian Tounekti to the ground.
Beaton watched it clearly from behind. VAR had a camera face on to the incident.
Goal-kick was the outcome.
Legacy media is already framing the match as a brilliant display from Beaton. Basically there were no Morelos type atrocities.
Celtic social media will highlight and replay the incidents to ensure light is shed on the VAR secrets of Scottish football.
Collum is expected to announce Don Robertson and David Digger Dickinson as officials for Sunday’s Scottish Cup tie at Ibrox. All that remains is to decide who is on the park with both men knowing exactly what is expected of them.
NOTE: Celtic will make absolutely no complaints about the decisions yesterday, in line with club policy since July 2012.
