Celtic fans aren’t best pleased with the attack on them from Scott Brown.
For 14 years Brown was an outstanding Celtic player, most of them as captain.
Leading from the front with nine-in-a-row and a quadruple treble on his CV.
His legacy should be beyond reproach but one ill-timed interview in the Daily Record has placed a cloud over the former skipper
Brown has been a long term friend of Keith Jackson.
This week the veteran Daily Record reporter seems to be on a mission to demonise the Celtic support as a favour for another close friend, Peter Lawwell.
Brown spoke on a number of issues about Celtic leading with a spirited and reasonable defence of Callum McGregor.
Again, this argument is contrived. Criticism is concern, McGregor has had two injuries over the last six weeks which has impacted on performances. Fans are concerned that McGregor is being overplayed, over used and over relied on.
SCOTT BROWN LED DOWN THE GARDEN PATH
In the interview there was a very direct attack on Celtic fan media.
Almost certainly inspired and fed by Jackson who has watched fan media destroy the Daily Record. During his own career print sales have shrunk from 600,000 a day to just over 30,000.
The most telling comment attributed to Brown was:
There are a lot of vultures out there on social media and podcasts who think they know how to run the club better.
It’s as if people think Celtic can just go out and spend £20m on a player because the money is in the bank.
But if you do that and then you don’t make the Champions League then what happens? The club starts going into the red.
There may be a random nutter or two on Twitter wanting to spend £20m on a striker. No one in fan media or any half reputable podcast has suggested that course of action.
Podcasts and fan media want the club to be run more efficiently.
To appoint people on merit rather than surname. To have strategy and decisions made by a Director of Football rather than an elderly golfer that barely turns up at Celtic Park.
The £20m signing line was almost certainly fed to Brown by Jackson, someone whose career hopes have been crushed by fan media.
Hopefully Brown will turn down the next request from Jackson for an interview.
The policy of the Record and Jackson are well known, they have never been about what is best for Celtic.
I’m guessing these Podcast vultures are the ones who also pay you thousands to do gigs at supporters clubs up and down the country, for the social media vultures who pay good money to see you then Scott?????? https://t.co/aOABTQE8Et pic.twitter.com/JW9SN4C3zu

Colin Watt appears occasionally on ACSOM.

Broony’s now a hero & protected species amongst the Pro-Board simps as the unwashed have dared challenge some of what he said.
Headboy, supine, mediocrity facilitating flunkies.
All well to do successful types, too.
£20 million on ONE player ? We aren’t even looking for that to be spent on the rebuild in the summer. Looks like someone’s wanting a spot at Celtic Park in the future . We’ve got vultures alright , they’re in the boardroom .
Scott Brown, once a hero now a useful pleb. He cannot seriously believe people want us to spend 20mil on any player. No-one expects that or has ever said it. Completely lazy attack on the fan media. Almost as insulting as DDs sons attack at the AGM. Brown is on board to spread bullshit and lies now unfortunately.
Cock sucking of the highest order by Broony…
Now Gees The Celtic job after the next one fails…
And he will with Lucan and Co there !
