Martin O’Neill has made two changes to the Celtic side that started against St Mirren at Hampden for today’s match with Falkirk.
James Forrest and Liam Scales come into the side to replace Ben Arthur and Sebastian Tounekti. There is no place in the squad for Arthur but Alistair Johnston is included for the first time since October.
Forrest starts just his third SPFL match of the season after signing a 12 month contract extension in midweek.
The extra-time scoring burst at Hampden has given the club a boost but goals have been a struggle in the SPFL.
Neither of the January striker signings, Junior Adamu and Tomas Cvancara make it into the 20 man squad.
A fourth SPFL win of the season over Falkirk would lift Celtic level on points with Hearts who are at Easter Road tomorrow.
There is virtually no margin for error in Celtic’s position. Next week it is their turn to visit Easter Road with eight defeats already racked up in the SPFL Premiership.
CELTIC V FALKIRK BACKGROUND
Falkirk come into the match trying to get over their Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Dunfermline.
That was a sore one to take for John McGlynn who was highly critical of his side. Scott Bain is one of three regulars missing today.
Having achieved a place in the top six there is a sense that Falkirk might have achieved all that they can for this season.
Fifth place ahead of Hibs seems to be their only realistic target- on the back of successive title wins.
Falkirk have already been to Celtic Park three times this season. Losing twice in the SPFL and 4-1 in an August League Cup tie.
