FLASHBACK- When Danny Rohl was gloating over Celtic’s troubles

Just over 10 weeks ago Danny Rohl was getting very smug as he discussed Celtic.

A smarter manager would know not to go into detail about opponents ahead of a Derby match.

Celtic had lost at home to Hibs the previous week. They were third in the SPFL Premiership table.

Facing back-to-back trips to Ibrox which could have ended their season.

In midweek before those matches they had to go to Stuttgart and Aberdeen.

Comfortably out of the Europa League Rohl had a full week of training to prep his stars at Murray Park.

ARROGANT ROHL IS THE PERFECT FIT FOR IBROX

It didn’t take long for the former Sheffield Wednesday boss to get drawn into the arrogance that is part of the Ibrox DNA.

With virtually nothing in their trophy room FC Next Season really think that they are some sort of footballing giant.

Three trophies in 14 seasons suggests differently.

Despite that, feeding the media messengers Rohl was cranking up the Battle Fever two days before facing Celtic.

To be fair to Rohl a strange smirk is never far away.

But he went further as he previewed facing Celtic at home in the SPFL.

He had lost count of how many matches Celtic had lost in the SPFL.

After delivering one win, one draw and four defeats in the Europa League he was having a go at Celtic for only winning 1-0 away to Stuttgart. A result greater than anything that he has ever achieved in his managerial mediocrity.

Then he started to speculate over the fitness and conditioning of Kasper Schmeichel.

Two days later Rohl chucked away a 2-0 lead at home to Celtic.

This morning his side trail Celtic by seven points. Third place in secured.

If Rohl survives the summer he can prepare for Europa League qualifiers, provided Celtic do him a favour and win the Scottish Cup. After the Celtic B team won a penalty shoot-out at Ibrox.
