GLASGOW, SCOTLAND - SEPTEMBER 25: Andrew Cavenagh, Chairman of Rangers, looks on during the UEFA Europa League 2025/26 League Phase MD1 match between Rangers FC and KRC Genk at Ibrox Stadium on September 25, 2025 in Glasgow, Scotland. (Photo by Euan Cherry/Getty Images)
Andrew Cavenagh is walking head long into the perfect storm at Ibrox.
The American businessman has had a complete shocker in his first year involved in soccer.
After spending £40m on the playing squad Cavenagh steered the 2012 Ibrox Tribute Act into third place in the SPFL Premiership.
Along the way the new Chairman has worked with two CEO’s and two managers. After sacking Kev Thelwell as Director of Football the latest structure no longer requires that post.
A picture of chaos has developed over the last few weeks with some epic developments taking place.
Showing that he hasn’t a clue about soccer or the level of anger Cavenagh called the media messengers to Ibrox on Sunday morning to inform them that he had complete faith in Danny Rohl.
Ibrox fan media reps made it very clear to Cavenagh that he is backing a dud. They know the subject well, they have been cheerleaders to a succession of failed Messiahs.

A very serious claim emerged today on the STV Football Show.
One of the presenters claimed that from the tunnel at Tynecastle Rohl was shouting to Cavenagh that he needed leaders.
On a number of levels it is worrying for Cavenagh.
It seems that some media types witnessed this in public after losing 2-1 at Hearts. Anything of that nature should be discussed behind closed doors.
SOCCER GUY CAVENAGH LEFT IN THE DARK
Doing that in public Rohl wanted the message to get out. It shows a lack of judgement and trust in the players that went into the post-split fixtures as title favourites.
It distances the Head Coach from the players. Pre-split, pre Marbella they were all in it together.
Show them both the door, Danny Rohl is not the man to take @RangersFC forward and seemingly neither is Andrew Cavanagh?? pic.twitter.com/lEKsdCD6m8

Ticking away has been the fall out with James Tavernier and the petted lip of Captain Disappointed.
Off his own back Tavernier announced that he would be leaving at the end of the season. With no Testimonial or contract offer the former Wigan ace had no other option.
Tav made a sharp exit from Wednesday’s home defeat from Hibs. He was nowhere to be seen at Falkirk on Saturday.
Now it seems that Tav had a farewell party booked for Murray Park on Sunday. Players and staff were invited with one obvious exception.
Rohl was quietly told not to attend.
Should he return for pre-season training next month he will find a squad full of resentment and knowing how to see off an unwanted manager.
DANNY ROHL: This clip, from the podcast, is doing the rounds.
So, I’ve asked Callum, from STV Sport, for more details.
Hearts 2 Rangers 1 – Rohl is fizzing at the full time whistle and shouts to the Rangers hierarchy ‘get me more leaders’

Of course, Cavenagh [& his backers] didn’t buy control of sevco because he wanted to join the “We Are The People” nonsense.
He isn’t a soccerball supporter either.
It’s an investment for him and his backers.
…and an investment demands a return!
The risk for sevco is that Cavenagh reassesses his position and decides to cut his losses?
Might not happen now, next year or even the year after.
But, if he decides to get out, he won’t give a monkey’s who buys it.
[The average time period for a private equity investment to be flipped in the UK is 5
years.]
And he could be selling to another investor[s], who is that bit further down the food chain.
Not a ‘Craig Whyte’ type, but someone [or group] who could ultimately run the ibrox club into the ground.
And the bears would just have to stand and watch / growl.
…which would be nice! 🙂
They also want £1.3 million for apparent damage to the stadium.
FFS. The entire shit hole is worth less than that.
As Craig Whyte found out in 2012, Tony B, the whole place is worth the princely sum of £1.
Hail Hail.
Mibbees £1.47 with inflation…
🙂
Bob (original) @ 8.16pm…
Did you mention 1.47 because old St.Martin did ‘break’ their heart and have them snookered !
Just spend more after the 42 million, quite the ” investment” nothing but throw money at the problem. Lost every year since 2012 and gods knows how many before all whist stiifing fans and creditors AND STILL they hope.
Fucking delusional does not go far enough
