Callum McFadden is reporting that Celtic have agreed financial terms with Shaun Maloney and Mark Fotheringham to resume their coaching roles at Celtic.
Who is McFadden and how does he know is probably the most obvious question.
Last season McFadden delivered a very in-depth interview with Fotheringham which detailed his joy at coaching Celtic.
All of Fozzy’s enthusiasm came over in the interview, right down to Callum McGregor’s Mum sending Fotheringham’s kids Celtic shirts as Christmas gifts.
Media access to Celtic employees is kept very tight. Interviews with Fotheringham were thin on the ground but he seemed to open up with McFadden.
Exactly two weeks ago Celtic announced the appointment of O’Neill on a permanent basis. Tellingly there was no comment or update on coaching staff.
This week West Brom announced the appointment of Gavin Strachan after six years at Celtic.
There has been various speculation about the state of negotiations with Maloney and Fotheringham.
This afternoon on the World Football Index McFadden reports:
World Football Index understands that Shaun Maloney and Mark Fotheringham have agreed financial terms on contracts that would see them remain at Celtic for the forthcoming season.
Only final contractual details remain to be resolved. Those provisions are expected to be agreed today and are understood to be based on the same framework previously used for the coaching staff of Brendan Rodgers and Wilfried Nancy.
With pre-season starting tomorrow time is moving fast on Celtic’s pre-season preparations.
No players have been signed since the Scottish Cup was won on May 23.
AFTER THE FOTHERINGHAM AND MALONEY CONTRACTS ARE SIGNED THE REAL WORK BEGINS
Luis Palma and Maik Nawrocki have been sold. Fans are still awaiting news on whether Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kelechi Iheanacho will be extending their stays with Celtic.
There are a multitude of other issues that need to be addressed with a big turnover of first team players expected.
Daizen Maeda and Arne Engels are expected to move on. Interest in Alistair Johnston and Ben Nygren is also expected.
With the World Cup yet to reach the knock-out stage eight Celtic players will still be involved this weekend.
Those that are knocked out will be expected to take at least a two week break which puts them behind the others in preparations.
Celtic have four pre-season matches before the SPFL opener at home to Dundee on August 3.
O’Neill, Maloney and Fotheringham will be hoping to have significant transfer work completed by July 24 when Celtic play AC Milan.
IF true, hopefully, our incompetent Board is at least being consistent:
signing up the Double-winning coaches the day before pre-season starts?!
It looks dreadful from every angle: the Board rewarding success with penny-pinching?
Now DD and the Board can concentrate on NOT signing any players,
until after the World Cup has finished – and until just before the transfer window slams shut !

In my opinion, the club is already embarrassing with what apparently is an absolutely unprofessional, incompetent and deceitful board and major shareholder, who is NOT the owner, but acts as if he is.
Their behaviour has been childish, petulant and undignified. How can we expect any other club to take us seriously with these seriously greedy and self-serving individuals. Who can possibly trust these people?

Desmond and his cabal of corporate greed and austerity fc will run this club into the ground , and the season ticket holders have made this all possible and as the wheels come off Desmonds malignant plans , he now turn attention to bringing in free transfers and loan signings no quality will enter the dressing room although plenty will leaveand fatten up Desmonds and his boards pension pots and salaries, so we’ll done season tickets holders you have all deserve, stop giving them your money or you are complicit in the destruction of our club

As Kevin bridges said we went from a two horse race to show jumping. We are so far behind modern day operations is actually scary. The only time in recent years the teams around us have sorted themselves out we were clearly extremely fortunate to win the league. Wake up ffs
