Celtic are reported to have taken part in a video conference call relating to the signing of Elias Filet.
The striker is expected to leave FC Aarau this summer with that position regarded as something of a priority by most Celtic fans.
Claims of interest and a video call adds to the intrigue around Celtic at the moment.
Despite reports on Friday that Martin O’Neill had agreed a 12 month contract as permanent manager there has been no confirmation from Celtic.
With the post of Head of Football Operations vacant it is difficult to pin down who would be involved on the Celtic side of negotiations.
CEO Michael Nicholson hasn’t spoken in public this year.

After a remarkable season in the Swiss Challenge League, the 24-year-old French-Martinican striker is attracting increasing interest in the transfer market. According to our information, Belgian club KRC Genk has already begun discussions with the player.
An offer is currently on the table, and the Flemish club’s interest is confirmed. In Scotland, Celtic FC has also accelerated its pursuit. A video conference between representatives of the Scottish club and the player’s agent took place on Tuesday, June 9th.
Celtic’s management’s priority is now clear: to reach a contractual agreement with Filet before entering into official negotiations with FC Aarau. French competition is also significant. FC Lorient has already been in contact with the player’s representatives and is preparing a concrete offer.
The Merlus (Lorient’s nickname) were awaiting approval from their new coach before launching their sporting project. With this step now completed, a contract offer should be submitted to the player in the coming hours.
Filet moved to Aarau in January 2025 in a £400,000 deal from Croatian side NK Istra.
CELTIC AND THE LOSS OF STRIKERS
Scoring 21 goals in 37 matches in the Swiss Second Division is a decent record but not at the sort of level that Celtic are expected to operate at.
During 2025 Celtic sold the goal threat of Kyogo Furuhashi, Adam Idah and Nicolas Kuhn with Shin Yamada the only striker signed.
With Daizen Maeda expected to be sold following the World Cup Finals bringing in a striker or two would seem like a priority.
It is now 18 days since Celtic lifted the Scottish Cup to complete a domestic double.
Since then there has been no squad update from the club, no thank-you messages for any of the six players that were signed on loan during the season.
Celtic get pre-season training underway on June 26 but with a shadow squad.
As well as having seven players at the World Cup Finals other internationalists such as Liam Scales and Vil Suinisalo have been playing well into June.
Reporting on a video conference call is fairly specific but there appears to be other issues at Celtic that are priorities such as announcing a permanent manager.

Nobody even knows who’s acting for the club wrt transfers, it’s a f**king disgrace and this has all the hallmarks of a dysfunctional, £1.5 mill punt when we desperately need proven talent at a decent level. FFS, I despair. Again!
