Celtic are reported to be making a decision on the futures of Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain this week.
Both players signed short term deal last season after Celtic failed to complete transfers during the summer and January transfer windows.
Without them it is doubtful that Celtic would have won the SPFL and Scottish Cup.
Signed at the start of February Oxlade-Chamberlain scored winning goals against Livingston and St Mirren.
In the run-in to the title Iheanacho scored late winners away to Dundee, Hibs and Motherwell.
Nothing contract wise has come out of Celtic in the four weeks since the Scottish Cup Final win over Dunfermline.
That vacuum has been filled with speculation, in the Daily Record Michael Gannon claims:
Meanwhile Celts are set to decide early next week if they will hit the button on contract extensions for Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
The pair penned short-term deals last term but both are understood to be keen on remaining at Parkhead for another 12 months.
Gannon is a regular source of Celtic news. On June 5 alongside Stephen McGowan and Robert Grieve he had the exclusive news of Martin O’Neill agreeing a new 12 month Celtic deal.
WHERE IS THE CELTIC STRATEGY/PLANNING?
In an ideal world Iheanacho and Oxlade-Chamberlain would be thanked for their contributions and wished good luck in their future careers.
Celtic exist in a world that is far from ideal. Apparently led by CEO Michael Nicholson.
A club with no Head of Football Operations since January 5.
Where the newly appointed manager has yet to provide an in-house interview about his plans and ambitions for the job.
Less than a week before pre-season training starts Celtic are still to announce Martin O’Neill’s backroom staff.
With all of that in mid there is every chance that Iheanacho and Oxlade-Chamberlain will be involved in pre-season training, possibly signing further short term deals.
A lack of leadership and communication seems now to be built into the Celtic DNA.
On June 11 Brian Wilson promised busy weeks of activity. So far only Scotsman readers have evidence of Wilson’s busy weeks.
Yesterday they were treated to his joy at the real Tories winning the Aberdeen South, Westminster by-election.

An update ! They will get back to you at the end of July …weather permitting of course !
Don’t want to pay wages to new signings over the summer. End of August likely time to bring in a few players after selling Engels, Nygren, Johnston, Maeda and Hatate.
It’s now becoming a real concern and the disconnect is growing
Yes, both players were brought in short-term to do a specific job,
which they delivered – and have our gratitude.
But, in the absence of any other signings,
we can fully expect both to get extensions now: it’s the convenient, lazy option ?
Valentines @ 9.06am…
Butchers Apron loving Wilson certainly won’t in July as he’ll be doing his wee tour of Bangor, Ballysillan, Ballymena, Shankill, Carrickfergus, Larne, Tullycarnet, Gilnahirk, Creagah, Forthriver, Springmartin, Tigers Bay, Rathcoole, Ballygowan, Whitehead, Coleraine, Macosquin, Waterside, Upperlands, Steeples, Styles, Doagh, White City…
Ach I’ve had enough I fed sick thinking about these dumps on the beautiful Island of Ireland festooned with Labour loving Butchers Apron flags on every lamppost…
Brian ‘Butchers Apron’ Wilson will love it though !!!
Probably also ask both players to take a wage cut to get the extension done, it’s the board’s way of rewarding the players whilst they reap the rewards for self implosion with a nice bonus, the only transfers they are interested in is the wages they steal transfering into their bank accounts.
.. a gin and orange, a lemon squash and a scotch and water, please!!!!
Shocking that one year on and seeing the same shit show we are powerless to do anything as these bastards just rinse and repeat…
