Celtic are apparently monitoring two members of the Bosnia World Cup squad.
Who is monitoring or trailing the players isn’t known.
Celtic have been without a Head of Football Operations since the departure of Paul Tisdale on January 5.
It took until June 11 for Celtic to announce the appointment of Martin O’Neill as permanent manager. There was no mention of who will be assisting him.
With the best will in the world it is hard to imagine that O’Neill is on the ball with the merits of Ivan Basic and Benjamin Tahirovic.
While trying to keep Celtic in contention for domestic trophies it is unlikely that O’Neill was all over news from Denmark about Tahirovic or about Basic in Kazakhstan.
Celtic have already lost three weeks in a massive rebuild.
O’Neill hasn’t had a holiday. Between January 5 and May 23 he was full on with rescuing Celtic.
CELTIC- THE REBUILD THAT NO-ONE WILL ADDRESS
There is the massive rebuild required in the eyes of most supporters. There is no sign of anyone inside the club being aware of the scale of the rebuild.
Brian Wilson’s Supporters Update on Thursday was just another holding statement.
A box ticking exercise, prime deflection. Nothing specific other than a reminder that eight players are at the World Cup Finals.
Only Daizen Maeda, Alistair Johnston and Ben Nygren have made it onto the pitch. Don’t be surprised if Celtic are pushing to sell them. Just like Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah last season.
Being linked with World Cup stars is a classic deflection tactic.
Fans can go and profile the players, perform deep dives with the player unlikely to arrive with their priority international duty followed by a holiday.
The Sun reports:
CELTIC are on the trail of Bosnia midfielder Ivan Basic.
SunSport understands Hoops chiefs are monitoring the 24-year-old at the World Cup.
There we go, monitoring. A pointless phrase. Surely he is monitored before becoming a transfer target. Being on the trail.
Basic played for 61 minutes in the Bosnian’s 1-1 draw against co-hosts Canada on Friday night, anchoring their midfield alongside Brondby’s Benjamin Tahirovic.
Brondby midfielder Tahirovic has been linked with a move to Glasgow this summer, but Basic is also on the radar.
With Arne Engels targeted by Italian sides Napoli and Lazio, boss Martin O’Neill could lose the £25million-rated Belgian international.
So Celtic are on the lookout for possible replacements, with Kazakhstan-based Basic on their list of targets.
On the radar, monitoring and the trail. As ever.
With the World Cup well underway there is no media interest in the lack of activity around Celtic Park.
A club that can’t even be bothered getting an in-house interview with their new-ish manager.
At least six first team starters are required on the back of the destruction engineered by Michael Nicholson. More if he gets his way by selling Maeda, Johnston and Arne Engels.
Not that you’d know by the pace of a club that apparently aspires to be world class in everything that it does.

I think it’s a perfect example of the complacency as well as the incompetence of the Celtic Management. 6 months to appoint a manager who was in the building and can’t get his assistants signed up as trying to low ball them for the 12 month privilege of being involved.
Looking forward to the “A lot of work going on behind the scenes” which I expect to mean “Busy trying to sell Maeda, Engels, Hatate, Nygrren and trying to find a way we can cash in on Rodgers enquiry about CMG for an extra few million”
Celtic, unfortunately, are run by a group of old farts and has-beens, or indeed, “never-wases”. It is incredible how short-sighted and incapable they are. The future looks bleak.
U all handed over your season ticket money aye?
If not hurry on now there’s a good lad the board need their bonuses
Better get it paid cos if u don’t they will find another complier to fill your seat and that seems to scare u all.
Celtic will not change , the bottom line is money in the bank , they do not care a jot about the fans or trophys they will try and get the fans to accept crap while they carry on with Desmonds and his cabal with corporate greed and austerity, the fans put the vast amount of money into this club not the arse likers on the board ,we have the power all we have to do is stop giving them your money or you are complicit
Celtic fans once more have only themselves to blame STs snapped up in a flash, despite not knowing if MON has his assistants that he wants,no director of football, nothing, but the kerching the season ticket money is in ,job done the gullibes fell for it once more.On another point if MON is indeed his own man and not in desmonds pocket,he surely would stand firm regards Maloney and Fozzy, get told take a pay cut or leave, surely Martin would step in and say pay them or I leave with them,I don’t know wtf is going on a Celtic bit it gets worse year on year with these useless greedy bastards on the board.
What sticks in my throat about Martin O’Neil, and I love the guy to bits, is, he keeps referring to the Irish despot as “The owner” , doesn’t sit well with me.
They are just bullshitting us
I think we’ll be sitting here in 2 weeks time and there’s not been one new signing
Have you ever noticed when the daily Record ‘report ‘ someone else’s guesswork attempt at journalism regarding Celtic FC buying players that they always ,always have to have a similar theRangers buying plan article at the very same time….probably when there is nothing planned from the tribute act ? It’s as if they cannot allow their dozens of readers to think Celtic are buying ahead of their pet Ibroxland project ! There has been very little mention if any of the Boston Celtics by the tabloids here ….I wonder why that is ? Plenty of Boston Red Sox reporting though !
Valentines @ 12,08pm…
I simply wouldn’t know the square root of fu*k all about The Scummy Record these days save for what Video Celts and The Celtic Blog report about them…
I’d rather be struck by lightning in a swimming pool than pay towards these scum of the universe far less the earth !
Halloween Houston appears to have took a step back from all things sevco just now and is concentrating on trying to become a podcaster on politics, and guess who he has joined as a member of,Restore Britain,I did think it was going to be Fagash Farage biut not to be.
Still Restire Britain has all the hallmarks of Farage’s bigoted party but just not the same amount of cash, but the same racial bigoted thoughts.
Still it keeps him away from the football for the time being as his team are SHITE.
The Board simply refuses to learn and improve.
We know, there is no rebuild coming.
The Board will efficiently sell as many of our best players as possible,
then drag its feet, and buy ‘project players’ to pad out the squad.
‘Quality players’ are not coming either
– but the Board could tell their friends in the SMSM that ‘negotiations’ with players can’t start until after the WC.
AKA delaying tactics / BS.
It will be the usual rummaging around the discount players / loan players
during the last few days of the window.
