Chris Sutton is ‘confused’ by Celtic’s failure to announce the appointment of Martin O’Neill as manager.
On Friday at 5pm the Daily Record, Herald and Sun all announced the news that O’Neill had agreed to a 12 month deal with an option for a further year.
On Monday a statement was expected on the Stock Market.
Monday came and went with nothing out of Celtic other than confirmation of last week’s news that Luis Palma had joined Lech Poznan.
It may be the close season but after a season that teetered on the brink of collapse every day is vital at Celtic.
Eighteen days after winning the Scottish Cup the issue of who is manager has still to be addressed.
During Monday Sutton filmed The Warm UP with Kris Boyd.
There was a mixture of emotions on show as the the former Celtic striker commented on the strange ways that Celtic operate and communicate in.
What is going on at Celtic? I thought that it was announced that Martin had signed.
I thought it was announced and was expecting the club to to clarify, you know, all the noise over the weekend. We’re now what’s it? I mean, it feels like an eternity, but more than two weeks since the Scottish Cup final. Celtic winning the double under Magic Martin and then and then this wall of silence.Â
Later (12 minutes 20 seconds) Sutton added:
The biggest thing, I’m often confused but confused with at why we are over two weeks on from the end of the season. I’ve already mentioned that and Celtic winning the double and the announcement still officially hasn’t hasn’t been made.
In the week following the Scottish Cup Final Celtic used social media regularly to remind fans about the Season Ticket deadline.
SUTTON AND CELTIC FANS LEFT COMPLETELY IN THE DARK
With that passed there has barely been any news directly out of the club.
The way in which The Sun, Daily Record and Herald announced the O’Neill contract suggested that all had been secured.
Nothing from the club or Stock Market on Monday muddies the water.
It would be a shock if O’Neill wasn’t announced and in charge of the team but there seems to be little sign of urgency in starting a rebuild.
Loan players have left Celtic without any thanks or comment.
Kelechi Iheanacho and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are out of contract with no news on their future.
Celtic CEO Michael Nicholson hasn’t said a word in public since his backing for Wilfried Nancy in December.
Interim Chairman Brian Wilson’s last supporter update was on April 30. The main takeaway was that the club was investing heavily in supporter engagement. In the six weeks since there has been no further detail provided.

The wrong people in the wrong job.
Who in that position with half a brain cell would treat the biggest income stream into the club with complete an utter contempt.
I just wish these parasites/imposters would just get out of our club.
They have privileged jobs working for celtic and they are taking the piss out of the supporters.
They will do exactly what they do every transfer window by leaving it late not getting the players the manager and fans want then throwing their lying excuses out for not getting the deals done.
I wasn’t sure about registering with Wullie Haughey until I found out more but now I see it as a bit of light to get at these clowns.
I hope in time David Low and Haughey can get together and make real in roads to get these hangers on out of our club.
I only have complete hatred for every single one of them.
In many ways they are worse than the board of the 90’s
Probably worse to be honest … the old board didnt have a pot to piss in… not so with “Scrooge Desmond” which you could half understand if it was HIS money , but as most comes through the fans (season tickets and merch) or competition prizes and player trading… struggle to understand HOW he controls the purse strings so tightly???
It’s all getting a bit weird…?
Doesn’t exactly come across as a ‘world class’ run plc, never mind football club!
