There was a 30 minute half time break in Saturday’s pre-season friendly between Peterhead and the Celtic B team.
The match was a testimonial for Jordan Brown, the youthful Celtic B side were doing well to be level at 1-1 after opening the scoring.
Typically Celtic didn’t bother mentioning the match anywhere. Not on the Celtic FC B X/Twitter account, the club website or any other platform.
Not even on the super app driven by Michael Nicholson or the Celtic-Player, the new platform for Celtic TV.
It seems that Celtic also forgot that the match was being played with the permission of the Scottish Football Association.
All players have to be registered to play in matches. Even trialists with Peterhead having Newman and Trialist in their Starting XI. They had two trialists listed among the subs which included Niall McGinn.
According to a report from Ross H on Celtic Underground there was a half-time panic with the Celtic B team.
Apparently Shay McGarry and three other summer signings hadn’t been registered to play in the match.
Team lines are handed in to the referee 90 minutes before kick-off.
It seems that no concerns were mentioned at the time but at the interval a problem was uncovered over the Celtic substitutes.

REGISTRATION ISSUE FOR CELTIC
Since last summer the SFA have used the COMET app to register players. Quite a few clubs had problems with the app as it came into use last season.
It would be reasonable to guess that laziness was the problem for the hoops yesterday.
When contracts were signed with McGarry and others they should have automatically been registered with the SFA.
McGarry was reported as a Celtic signing a few weeks ago. Signed from Cliftonville the 16-year-old is a central defender.
No doubt Shay and his family were told why he should trust his future with Celtic. Playing in the CAS u-19 league and the Lowland League West, possibly the UEFA Youth League.
It isn’t the best of starts for a new signing to spend four hours on a bus to Peterhead then find out that he wasn’t eligible to play.
The issue should be resolved on Monday allowing McGarry and others to play against East Kilbride on Tuesday evening.
Hardly the top league…

Registering new first team players shouldn’t be a problem for the Celtic administrators, we haven’t any players to register!
I have every confidence Nicholson will recruit world class office personnel from Sion and Legia Warsaw to take care of any football important regulatory issues.
Shay McGarry during his free time, might like to kick-off by helping the absent minded Nicholson use the SFA’s COMET App or pre-order from the Argos one, signage for match days and some sticky notes for a forgetful, inept and uncommunicative CEO.
Surely the SFA would find no issue with not registering players properly, they do have previous here. Huns were allowed to do it for years and the SFA just invented new rules on the hoof.
Unfortunately for the huns of the day, Rangers FC, wee Hector saw things very differently and by refusing to accept a CVA (along with David King the Castlemilk Crook) it made Rangers FC go into Liquidation where they died, never to be missed and that dead fact never to be forgotten.
