Peter Lawwell’s gushing praise for Wilfried Nancy

At the weekend Peter Lawwell was again the subject of fawning praise from Hugh Keevins, writing  in the Sunday Mail/Daily Record.

Apparently Celtic have fallen to pieces in the six months since Lawwell stepped down as Chairman.

Those nasty ungrateful fans apparently didn’t appreciate the brilliance of the former Clydeport bean-counter.

That will be the same fans that no longer buy newspapers, instead they chose to be informed by those Internet Bampots. Spreading their poison online. Others might describe it as the truth, applying scrutiny through their independence.

For decades Keevins and others could dine off a few crumbs thrown their way from the masters table.

The glorious Old Firm shared the honours and the Record and Sunday Mail counted sales by the hundreds of thousands.

Lorries and vans poured out of Anderston Quay then Cardonald taking the papers across Scotland and beyond. Holidaymakers from Blackpool to Benidorm queued up for news from back in Glasgow.

These days a few lorries head out of Oldham up towards the M74

Keevins and Lawwell revelled in that deal. Alas, those days are gone now, and in the past they must remain.

The latest Lament to Lawwell has been taken apart and trashed.

LAWWELL AND THE MANAGED DECLINE OF CELTIC

The shambles at Celtic is almost entirely the creation of Lawwell. A man motivated by self interest and nothing else. The CEO of Celtic on 26 July 2012 sold the jerseys.

Being beyond internal scrutiny is a very dangerous set up. Celtic have been in a spiral ever since.

Domestic trophies have piled up masking the fact that they are an irrelevance in Europe.

Inferior to Bodo Glint and Midtjylland, two of many clubs that have thrived in the modern era, maximising limited resources against opportunity.

At Celtic fans are told that they have never had it so good.

Even when they are appointing the seventh best manager in the MLS Eastern Conference.

When Nancy was appointed Lawwell told the Celtic website:

In seven weeks time Celtic face another of those humiliating Champions League Play Off ties.

Where well organised minnows with a CEO being paid less than £3.5m a year are all geared up for the chance to mix it with the giants of the game.

Keevins can look on at another failure from Celtic and wonder what it would have been like if big Peter was still returning his text messages.

Should Celtic somehow qualify they have the target of going for 12 points and a place in the Round of 16 Play Offs.

Big bad Brendan achieved that- anything less will be failure by design from within.
