Andrew Dallas provided the key moments as Derek McInnes got his first SPFL win as Ibrox manager.
In the last 15 minutes there were two big decisions to be made.
Dallas, a lifelong member of the Lanarkshire Referees Association made the decisions that every Scottish football fan would expect.
Backed up by match referee Matthew MacDermid, also a member of the Lanarkshire Referees Association.
And of course appointed for the match by Willie Collum.
The current Head of Refereeing at the SFA owes his entire refereeing career to Hugh Dallas. Groomed from an early age Collum was a clone of Dallas.
Now as Head of Refereeing he is promoting a batch of referees performing in his own image with MacDermid a prime example.
Today Aberdeen players were being booked for run of the mill challenges.
MacDermid booked home players in the 4th, 33, 36, 43, 55 and 77th minutes.
There was no debating the penalty awarded to the visitors, it was clear cut. Dons defender Dan Happe had a nightmare from start to finish. He fouled Djeidi Gassama, the winger didn’t require any theatrics.
DALLAS STEPS IN WITH THE BIG DECISIONS
In the final 15 minutes Aberdeen pushed for an equaliser.
In the 78th minute Kevin Nisbet had a chance at the back post. He was nudged away by Dujon Sterling.
Dallas opted to take no action. He could have sent MacDermid over for a pitchside review.
In the 83rd minute Nisbet nudged Sterling before heading the ball into the net.
This time Dallas ordered a pitchside review. Absolutely everyone knew the outcome, MacDemid delivered, the ‘goal’ was disallowed.
Afterwards the Press and Journal reported Aberdeen boss Stephen Robinson saying:
If I could give my thoughts, but the authorities make sure we don’t give our thoughts.
If you hear it from me, I’ll get a six-game ban,  and I can’t control decisions.
I can’t control what VAR sees as not enough force and too much force.
You all saw the game and the only thing I can comment on is I don’t know who judges the amount of force.
There wasn’t enough for Kevin to get a penalty and there was enough to disallow the goal.
Someone has made that decision rightly or wrongly and it certainly affects the game.
They seemed quite similar to me but I’m not a referee. I can only control the things that I can in terms of our performance. VAR’s played an integral role today.
With today’s performance MacDermid has pushed himself into contention to referee a Glasgow Derby, possibly as early as September 20.
Aberdeen fans made it clear what they thought of MacDermid today.
MacDermid is a cunt of a referee always f**ks up the major decisions.
The wangers were a pile of gick today, very lucky to somehow get a win..
If they played all day, they were never scoring a goal from open play…and then the old, trusted pen
I think very few will disagree with you there joe , my only surprise was that an aberdeen player wasn’t sent off with so many on yellows , but hey if they want to keep the flop in a job as they did with the previous managers so be it , we’ll sit back and wait for the knuckle draggers to demand his head as he scrapes through each game relying on the bent in black to save him , the signs are there already , lets hear it slippy fer sevco !!! Lol,Derek Ferguson today on Sevco Sportsound aka radio shortbread,you would think it was 4 lads had a dream podcast by the way he constantly talked up sevco and McInnes,agreed with every decision sevco got,and was in full backing not allowing Aberdeen that penalty claim and for their goal to be offside.
And yet screaming like a banshee all the things sevco for their penalty.
The only good think to o come out of that today was Mark Reynolds was there for an Aberdeen take on things,he didn’t hold back,and told Ferguson and the others on Sevco Sportsound what should have happened regarding the Aberdeen penalty not awarded and the goal chopped off,he called every dodgy decision out as it was.
As for Ferguson he actually quoted this, McInnes is the best at holding on to 1 nil leads,in fact he is a MASTER at it,really,well how the F**K did he manage to lose out on that magical 1 nil lead in Europe.
Then he went on to say,the football sevco played today,I could watch this we every week.
Oh dear,talk about bootlicking, that’s it there in the highest quantity.
McInnes is still just 1 game away from his P45.
Oh and Gassana and Tony Curtis both played out their skin apparently,no doubt they are next on the bingo transfer list for big jackpot money.
Regardless of the push, Nisbett was off side when the second header went in.
Having said that I can imagine the phrases that would be used if that had been anyone else: “the defender has to be stronger”, “there isn’t enough in that”, “Celtic get away with one”

Questionable refereeing aside,
that was a dreadful game of football.
Two very poor teams…
Wee Robinson might have said something and received a 6 game ban …but when would it have taken place ? With appeals and paperwork going amiss etc ..it might have been next January before it actually took place going by McInnes’ ‘ban ?’
