She is hardly going to join the twin chubsters of Kenny Macintyre and Tom English in the Sportsound studio. Where diversity means calling in Andy Halliday, Ryan Stevenson or Scott Arfield for a left field view.
TalkSPORT put in a call to Halliday to discuss Derek McInnes’ first match in charge of the Ibrox Tribute Act.
It wasn’t the usual type of matey media call that Halliday is used to. Aherne dared to discuss the truth.

She asked if McInnes was in the ‘always cheated never defeated’ camp!

On her own podcast Aherne laughed it off. Her mainly English audience will barely have heard the type of language that she was subjected to.
Fortunately she is carving out her own career far away from the backwaters. She isn’t reliant on trotting out the party line for Radio Scotland.

McInnes has won one League Cup in almost 20 years in management.
The same as John Collins and Danny Lennon. John Yogi Hughes managed to win a Scottish Cup, as did Tommy Wright.
Callum Davidson has two cup winning triumphs on his CV.
But still, thanks to his staunch background, McInnes is lauded as the greatest Scottish managerial talent of his generation.
He has performed fairly well, lifted teams up the SPFL table, got them punching their weight but no more.
But in Scotland he is a protected specie.
There has been next to nothing in terms of reporting the confrontation with Walsh.
Certainly no-one putting two and two together over the fact that McInnes should have been serving a touchline ban. And has an appeal to be heard by the SFA at an unknown date.
All that is for the Scottish football backwater. Aherne has a career to enjoy and bigger fish to deal with than wee Del.
