Derek McInnes fears that Lawerence Shankland’s injury could be quite significant.
The Ibrox skipper was substituted eight minutes into today’s match at home to Motherwell.
Two minutes in play was stopped due to an issue with communications between the match officials.
The game had barely started, Shankland had hardly moved when he requested that the match was stopped. Naturally referee Duncan Nicholson obliged.
When the physio came onto the pitch it seemed clear that Shankland knew something was wrong.
After a minute’s break the 31-year-old went off with Ryan Naderi taking his place.
The substitute scored the only goal pf the game following a gift from Motherwell ‘keeper Alex Paulsen.
After the match McInnes brought up the injury during his post-match media duties.
? “It’s not good, it looks like a significant hamstring injury”

It’s similar… he has a similar feeling to the hamstring injury he had at Hearts last January when he was out for three months, so obviously we don’t want to speculate too much. But he says it feels similar to in the same area, so we’ll get him scanned on Monday
THE SHADOW CAST BY SHANKLAND
McInnes instantly compared Shankland’s injury to one he suffered last January.
Shankland was ruled out from January 17 to March 21.
A repeat hamstring injury for a 31-year-old can only be bad news, especially since it was picked up having barely exerted himself in the match.
After a slow start to his dream move Shankland was left on the bench for three successive matches.
He returned against Aberdeen last Sunday, scoring three goals in two matches to turn the tanker for McInnes.
Now it looks like the former Hearts striker will be out of action for at least two months.
McInnes will need to rely on Naderi and new signing Kevin Kelsy to carry a goal threat.
Shankland had taken on penalty taking duties from James Tavernier but against Motherwell Kim Min-Su sent one wide of the post.
Next up is a midweek visit from St Mirren followed by two matches against Celtic.
After signing 14 players during the transfer window McInnes’ squad should be well covered in every area with Bojan Miovski still on the pay roll.

While I never wanna see a football player injured that is one fu**in bonus for us…
That guy scores for fun and probably would’ve done against us…
He has single handedly seen Sevco five points behind us instead of nine…
Say what ya wanna about him catching up with ma beer belly but he knows the way to goal for sure !
Does insurance Co now pay his wages?
Out of Europe, they need financial sources from elsewhere.
They must be on their hunkers financially
