There are few things more predictable in football than Gordon Strachan praising the brilliance of the Celtic board.
A few times a season the former Scotland boss gets wheeled out by a gambling firm to praise his former employer.
Until this summer Gavin Strachan was also on the payroll.
One of Strachan’s other son’s, Craig has been picking up a salary as a scout at Celtic for almost 20 years.
Previous to that Craig worked in a Golf Shop.
You’ll never read Strachan defending six successive failures to reach the group stage of the Champions League under Celtic’s enlightened leaders.
Sure Michael Nicholson oversees a better run club than across the city.
When you inherit a 60,000 seater stadium and have a 14-year-old club as your main opposition it doesn’t take much to stay ahead.
But against competent, ambitious opponents playing for a Champions League place the magic of the Celtic CEO wears thin.
Teams like Kairat Almaty and LASK expose the limitations of having a recluse with no football knowledge or contacts as your CEO.
Smaller clubs with smaller finances but bigger ambition.
STRACHAN ALWAYS ON CALL TO DEFEND FAILING CELTIC BOARD
Strachan knows not to try defending those failures.
Instead he prefers to hard back five years to praise the brilliance of his former employers.
The Daily Record reports:
Asked if he agreed with some supporters that there should be change in the boardroom after the window, he told Record Sport : “This is a myth as well, an absolute myth. It’s a myth because Hatate, Maeda and O’Riley cost £1.5million each.
Yes, signed in January 2022 by a manager that knew the market.
Compare that with the dross recruited by Mark Lawwell in the summer of 2023. Think Marco Tilio, Luis Palma. Odin Thiago Holm, Kwon Hyeok-kyu and Maik Nawrocki.
Or 12 months ago when £10m was blown on Michel-Ange Balikwisha and Sebastian Tounekti.
“And if you look at Jota, Nicolas Kuhn, who went to Como, [he was] £3million. Their actual recruitment is phenomenal on that side here.
Really. They get lucky with a few players and only with Alistair Johnston has a successor been recruited. It took 12 months to replace Kuhn. Ask Gavin about right-wing last season.
“They’re only £1.5million, even though Engels is a bit different as he was £11million. Their recruitment has been phenomenal. That is why they’ve got money in the bank, because their recruitment’s been phenomenal.
They’ve got money in the bank because they can’t trust their recruitment process to reinvest. LASK and Kairat have exposed the Celtic board.
Two Norwegian teams are in the Champions League. Celtic aren’t.
If recruitment is so phenomenal why do you make five loan signings in the 48 hours before the transfer deadline.

He cant upset the apple cart.
We have signed 2 lads at 18 with zero chance of keeping them. So in essence, we are a feeder club for Chelsea. Surely we have talent on the books at 18 pushing for a place in the squad? Chelsea has just handed the young striker a new deal so we have not a chance in hell of keeping him. Give him game time to improve him for the Chelsea first team
Betcha they’re not as tight to their own fu**in families as they are to The Celtic Family !
Strachan Senior should feck off and stick to golfing.
His total and unswerving allegiance to DD and Pistol Pete is well known among Celtic fans.
