Raymond Buchanan has been given an early warning over what he is taking on as a Non Executive Director of Celtic.
On Friday in a classic deflection exercise Celtic announced that Buchanan and Mark Keane were becoming Directors.
This is apparently the refresh that Brian Wilson hinted at during his April ‘Supporters Update’.
The monthly ‘Supporters Update’ from the Interim Chairman has come to a halt. Even a lifelong Labour politician has run out of spin to dupe supporters with.
We were told that lessons had been learned from the mistakes of last season. If anything this season has started worse, but without Brendan Rodgers to blame for the issues.
That was the catastrophic move made by Dermot Desmond 20 minutes after Celtic announced the resignation of their highly successful manager.
That statement from Desmond will ensure that no credible or competent candidate will go near the manager’s job.
Much like the underwhelming appointments of Keane and Buchanan.

Celtic haven’t even announced a start date for Buchanan who is currently a Director of Corporate Affairs at Scottish Water.
At least a couple of Buchanan’s Linkedin contacts know the reality of what he is taking on with his ‘dream move’ to Celtic.
Taking on a Comms role should be amusing as he looks at the body of work from Communications Manager Iain Jamieson.
Jambo as he is affectionately known, may actually be competent but pushing 30 years inside Celtic he is the ultimate company man. The trick is to do next year what you did last year.
Celtic’s Comms Policy is to say and do nothing about any issue. If in doubt do nothing.
BUCHANAN JOINS UP TO THE CELTIC OLD BOYS CLUB
A handful of pet reporters are kept in the news loop which prevents any level of scrutiny of the multiple failings of the club.
Instead legacy media outlets churn out tales of what a fantastically well run club Celtic is.
That is the club that has lost out six times in a row in qualifying for the Champions League to unseeded opponents.
LASK, Kairat Almaty, Midtjylland, AEK Athens, Ferencvaros, Cluj, Malmo and Maribor don’t make any great claims over their corporate brilliance.
They run competent clubs, trying their best in every area with no CEO that was ever paid £3.5m in a single year.
In the year to 30 June 2019 Peter Lawwell had his salary topped up by a bonus taking his total pay to £3.5m.
That package was agreed by the Remuneration Committee which included Lawwell’s former Clydeport colleague Tom Allison.
Buchanan and Keane have joined the Celtic board through the Nominations Committee.
Previously the Nominations Committee consisted of Lawwell, Allison and Dermot Desmond. The Celtic website no longer lists who is on the Nominations Committee.
There are also no names given for the Nominations or Remuneration Committees.
Only the members of the Audit Committee are named with Sharon Brown and Brian Rose joining Desmond.
Into all of that Buchanan will be walking with his eyes open, whenever his start date falls.
Keane has been in and around the Celtic boardroom for decades on account of his Father’s shareholding.
Now with a 6% shareholding in the club he has joined the Board that allowed Lawwell to crash the 2025 AGM.
Celtic shareholders are still waiting for the publication of the 2026 Annual Report. Last year it was published on 19 September.
@CelticFC calls this board refreshment.
Here is what the filings show.
Peter Lawwell left the board on 31 December 2025. It took 261 days to fill his seat. Tom Allison left in April. His seat is still empty, because the director announced on Friday cannot start until he leaves…

How many members of this current board overseeing absolute lunacy behind the scenes and defeats on the pitch are lying on a nice poolside sun lounger or on a nice soft sandy beach during this extended International break ? Rather than knuckling down to fix the many problems during the break when returning to playing I wouldn’t be surprised if a nice early Autumn holiday in a country with guaranteed sunshine would be the priority for certain board members ? Sun sand and sea forever …with a well maintained golf course nearby would certainly recharge the batteries …eah ! Can’t wait to see their expensive tans when they return to the turmoil and chaos ? Do you think I’m kidding?
A lot of well meaning but (misguided by pathological liars like Lucan and Wilson) have paid for their fancy holidays Valentines…
Hopefully they’ll have seen the error of their ways come season ticket renewal…
Not faithful thru and thru anymore !
The new guys will be “Yes Men”
How do I know that you may ask ???
If they weren’t the Irish golfer wouldn’t have them anywhere near the board.
Also, one of the guys has a big shareholdering and DD is making sure he votes with him and not with any outside parties.
DD is not great at running a modern football club but is without doubt a shrewd businessman ?
