It had to happen one day and today is that day. Keith Jackson has called it 100% right over Craig Mulholland.
The veteran reporter that introduced Daily Record readers to Motherwell’s first ever billionaire has had a tough time of it over the last decade or two.
Every Revolution at Ibrox has been cheered to the rafters while Internet Bampots pointed out the reality of the new saviour.
Jackson has a more detached role these days at the Record.
It seems that fronting their You Tube content is the priority while the young bucks enjoy the jollies of European trips.
Over the last month Mulholland has been introduced to the football public as the man with all the answers to all the problems.
Funnily enough Mulholland has been at the heart of many of these problems. Some might say the creator of many.
The development guru spent 20 years at Murray Park producing virtually nothing in the way of footballers.
It seems the empire building is Mulholland’s greatest strength. Mainly to cover up his own lack of achievements.
Celtic’s Academy has clearly failed but since Mulholland set up inside Murray Park James Forrest, Callum McGregor and Kieran Tierney have been collecting medals and caps.
JACKSON SEES THROUGH THE SMOKE AND MIRRORS OF JARGON MAN MULHOLLAND
Apparently Mulholland had some role in developing Billy Gilmour, Nathan Patterson and Liam Kelly.
Gilmour got out of Murray Park at the age of 16, the other two are classic examples of mediocrity given international recognition way beyond their ability.
After setting the scene about the lack of young Scottish players emerging Jackson goes straight in on Mulholland:
But for Mulholland to breeze into his new job and open up by giving a lecture in how best to develop youth, while throwing around a bunch of new rules which could be otherwise interpreted as threats?
Well, that really is a quite staggering development and, even in the wildly peculiar context of Scottish football, it has sent the irony meter into full scale clatter mode.
Mulholland has spent the time since doing the media rounds in a bid to promote his urgent action plan. In so doing, he has also talked extensively about his own credentials for the role which, by his own admission, include 20 years in youth development at Rangers.
That’ll be two decades years during which the Auchenhowie production line coughed and spluttered while, very occasionally spitting out a player who might be deemed worthy of getting any serious minutes among the men.
And now Mulholland has arrived on the scene telling the rest of the game where they have been going wrong and what they need to do in order to rectify it.
It seems that no-one else in the media will question Mulholland.
Out of virtually nowhere someone has discovered the solution to all of Scotland’s football problems.
If Mulholland is the answer Scotland is truly doomed.
Since he set up camp inside Murray Park almost every club in Scotland has produced more more footballers.
Dundee United and Hibs have produced players for the national team.
St Mirren have developed and given a start to John McGinn and Kenny McLean. They provided a start for Lewis Morgan after he was booted out of Murray Park by Mulholland.
As was Greg Taylor and Lewis Ferguson. The thoughts of Derek Ferguson on Mulholland would certainly be worth hearing.
Queens Park provided an opening in senior football to Andy Robertson and Lawrence Shankland.
In football terms Mulholland is a complete failure.
In self promotion he is world class.
Anyone in football taking the views of Mulholland seriously deserves everything that is coming their way.

The SFA are not and never have been fit for purpose. Another classic case of jobs for the boys !
“Who can we employ that has a track record of excellence in youth development & pathways to drive our national game forward “
They don’t do irony,do they?
He has the right name Craig, just like Craig Brown, full of shite.
Lol,the Guru of Scottish football,Mulholland, that’s a belter.
My pal Rab.C fae Govan just told me “it’s aw pish”
The best players I ever saw were among the guys I played with down the local park, or on the red ash. Only one I played with ever went onto a successful professional career. These guys need to be found young and brought into the game instead of all these stupid elite academies. Open days are the way forward. Have annual try-outs like I thing they do in the NFL. There are geniuses out there to be discovered if given the chance.
I knew a guy who got a trial at Kilmarnock. He was a very decent player but those trials were so hard to obtain. One bad showing and it’s over. I played with another guy at amateur level who was Dennis Irwin class.
I’ve believed for years that the best players in Scotland are on our street corners drinking Buckie.
Sevco are well in big time at The Scummy SFA these days !
