The defender signed a 12 month extension to his contract in February but has been left out of the first team squad under Derek McInnes.
It is believed that the decision was non-football related.
On Tuesday McInnes talked up the prospect of Souttar moving to a country where the transfer window was still open.
ARIS of Greece were in talks about a deal with some of the loyal messengers claiming it would involve a fee of £1.3m with Souttar on the brink of signing a three year contract.
After the way he has been cast aside it seems that the former Hearts defender won’t be budging until he gets a good pay off. Contracts work two ways.
No transfer fee will be incoming. So far the Ibrox club has ran up a net spend of close to £30m this summer.

The report stated:
The Yellows had reached a verbal agreement with Rangers to acquire the rights to the 29-year-old Scottish stopper, however, the latest information indicates that there was a hitch in the negotiations, so it will be difficult for this specific case to strengthen the Thessaloniki team in the centre of defence.
Aris FC reports that: “While we had found everything, the footballer has financial issues with Rangers. After negotiations, they did not find an agreement in the end, so everything indicates that he will remain with the Scottish team. At the same time, a final effort is being made to overturn the facts.”
SOUTTAR WON’T QUIT WITHOUT GETTING HIS PAY OFF
Souttar finished last season in the Scotland World Cup squad despite another season of failure and injuries
Although he didn’t play a minute of the failed campaign he couldn’t have expected to be side-lined at Ibrox.
Manny Fernandez has started every match and played almost every minute while looking every inch a League One journeyman.
While McInnes has been adding to the Ibrox pay-roll it has turned out to be almost impossible to move players out.
Selling Mohamed Diomande and Oliver Antman raised around £5m.
Nedim Bajrami and Thelo Aasgaard were sent out on loan followed by Lyall Cameron and Connor Barron.
Souttar was linked with a move to unidentified Championship clubs in January but it is unlikely that they would match his Ibrox wages.
Last season the 29-year-old often captained the side in the absence of James Tavernier.

I know it’s the new huns but I’d, generally, be saying he’s a fake when calling himself a footballer. He’s fuckin’ hopeless and Aris may have gotten lucky.
There’s a similarity though between Souttar and Steve Bruce that any Citeh fan will tell you; they’ve both got big fat heids! 🙂
After today’s game he’ll be recalled to the team for next week…..
